Shiseido’s Sun Ultra Protection Lotion is a powerful formula that claims it will turn invisible on any skin tone. Featuring WetForce technology, this lotion is said to “provide the skin with a protective veil that becomes stronger as it comes into contact with water or perspiration.”

I applied a liberal amount to my face, neck, and shoulders. I was immediately struck by how the formula was truly invisible, and assumed the color of my skin instantly. I also liked the feel of the product which absorbed well and did not leave my skin cakey or chalky, the way many products with a high SPF can. Another positive feature was that it didn’t irritate my eyes, another issue with high SPF products.

Then I set out into a steamy NYC day. The product stayed in place and did not budge even though I was beginning to perspire. The WetForce technology is activated by exposure to water or perspiration for 30 minutes.

What is WetForce technology anyway? Here’s what I learned: Negative ions in the formula combine with positive ions in the perspiration or water to create an additional layer of invisible sun protection. As you continue to sweat and get wet, the sunscreen becomes more effective without a trace of white.

Shiseido Clear Stick UV Protector 50+ | $28.00

This clear stick sunscreen is said to apply easily for sun protection on-the-go. It can be used over and under makeup. It also features WetForce technology, which provides the skin with a protective veil that becomes stronger as it comes into contact with water or perspiration. It’s suitable for all skin types, is dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested as well as non-comedogenic. It is also water resistant for up to 80 minutes. The product contains soy lecithin, which is said to help prevent wrinkles as well as oil-soluble licorice extract, which is said to help prevent dark spots.

I used this as a touch up during the day, rubbing it on my arms, shoulders, face, and neck. It was not greasy at all (yay!) and I was pleased with the easy application and refreshing feeling. This is the perfect second-stop in your sun protection routine. Together, these two products create a one-two punch that will address all of your sun care needs all summer long.
