Backed by over 300 clinical studies, the French skincare brand Avène has been offering customers 260 years of expertise managing all skin types. Avène originates with its Thermal Spring Water. And according to the company’s site:

Avène Thermal Spring Water originates as rain, however, the 40-year journey through the Cevennes Mountain aquifer produces thermal spring water ideally suited for the care and management of sensitive skin.

Formulated with Avène Thermal Spring Water and bottled directly from the source of the spring, the Avène skincare brand addresses the needs of all types of sensitive skin.

The power of this water is definitely intriguing, so when I was given the opportunity to review various Avène products, I was very excited.

I first tried Avène’s infamous Eau Thermale Spring Water ($18.00). Used in Avène’s Hydrotherapy Center since 1743, this water has been used to treat serious dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis and eczema.

It promises to calm, soothe and soften skin whenever needed. It is rich in silicate and trace elements, low in salt mineral content, preservative-free, noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic. It can also be used to soothe skin post-surgery, treat redness, inflammation, burning, itching and keratosis.

I sprayed the water onto my face, let it sink in for 2 to 3 minutes, then gently patted my skin dry. It is refreshing, fragrance-free and cooling. It was a great pick-me-up after a long day in the city — my skin was softer and more hydrated.

This product is great for when catching a flight and anytime your skin takes a beating by the elements. It soothed my skin and eliminated redness. It can also be used for random things like sunburns and diaper rashes.

Next, I tried the Rétrinal EYES Eye Cream ($44.00). This product promises to visibly reduce the appearance of deep lines, puffiness and dark circles around the sensitive, delicate eye contour area.

The company states that its patented combination of retinaldehyde and hyaluronic acid fragments (H.A.F.) reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles, increasing skin firmness by stimulating the natural synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which contains decongesting properties that reduce the appearance of puffiness and dark circles.

I applied this cream every night for thirty days: it left my skin supple, velvety-soft and hydrated.

While I don’t have wrinkles that I needed to minimize, I did find that my eyes appeared to be less puffy. The eye cream has no scent, which is a great option for people who are allergic or irritated by scented formulas.Ladies in their 20s would definitely benefit from the anti-aging ingredients found in this eye cream. Very little is needed, so it would last a very long time.

Lastly, I tried the High Protection Tinted Compact SPF 50 ($32.00) in Honey. Available in two shades: Honey and Beige. This 100% mineral sunscreen provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection of SPF 50.

This compact can be used by itself, as a tinted moisturizer or as a sun protectant on top of makeup. It is also perfect as beach makeup, because it is sheer, long-lasting and water-resistant. But those that need full coverage should either layer it or use it on top of their makeup.

Yevy wearing all of her Avène products! Looking good!

I used the compact at the beach. It provided amazing sun protection for hours, wasn’t greasy and gave me a subtle glow.

I also applied it throughout the day on top of my makeup at work — it wasn’t greasy and dries to a powdery finish, so it won’t ruin your makeup. I definitely recommend this compact for everyday use, it was a life-saver!
