Beekman 1802 was started in 2008. Dr. Brent Ridge and Josh Kilmer-Purcell, partners in life as well as business, stumbled across the Beekman Farm in upstate New York. They had no plans to create a business around it but they started making goat milk soaps and gourmet cheeses, and one thing led to another… Now, they have over 180 employees and are a highly successful lifestyle brand. They offer an extensive range of products, including condiments, ceramics, porcelain, perfume, pillows, and more. This is all in addition to their wide-ranging selection of skincare and body care products. I was sent three skincare products to sample and review.

Milk Drops Probiotic Ceramide Serum | $45.00

This is said to be the first clinically proven serum to blend ceramides and probiotics within the company’s proprietary goat milk delivery system. The highest concentrated, most potent treatment of the line, this lightweight probiotic milk serum contains essential ceramides, squalane, hyaluronic acid, and plant enzymes that are said to invigorate dull skin. The product is also designed to control oily skin, clear pores, and balance discoloration.

I’m a big fan of serums in general and this one did not disappoint. I used it for several evenings at bedtime, applying to a cleansed face before bed. It has a light fragrance and absorbed most instantly, like my skin was drinking it. And in the morning, a dewy fresh complexion awaited me. If you’re looking for a new serum, this one is worth a try.

Bloom Cream Daily Probiotic Moisturizer | $54.00

This daily moisturizer is made with a “unique probiotic complex” that claims to “restore healthy, youthful radiance.” This lightweight formula is designed to work on all skin types and fights dullness.

I used this for several days and found it pleasant but not exceptional. It left a slight tackiness on my skin and since it doesn’t contain any SPF, I had to add a product that did contain it, especially now, in the summer. It’s a perfectly fine product but I think there are other equally effect products on the market, some with a better price point.

Buttermilk Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm | $38.00

On contact with water, this product transforms from a buttery balm into a deep cleansing milk that washes away dirt, makeup, and sunscreen.

Buttermilk cleanses and moisturizes without any irritants or sensitizers. It’s effective enough to remove even water-resistant makeup yet gentle enough for any type of skin. And the impossible-to-lose yellow spatula slips right into its custom holder after each use, ensuring you get every last scoop of buttermilk down to the last drop.

I used this product in the shower several times. It’s very luxurious and I loved the rich, nourishing milk that was formed after contact with water. It did a good job of removing makeup and dirt. It did not, however, rinse cleanly, and instead left a perceptible coating on my skin. This wasn’t what I wanted in the middle of a steamy August. I will put it away and know that in January, I will appreciate the rich formula that seems to be designed to keep skin moist, supple, and protected.
