Reviewed and Approved: CoverGirl NatureLuxe Collection & Swatches

When you wear or test out a lot of makeup on a regular basis, you start to crave a little something natural. Am I right, ladies? Like many women, I’ve been really into healthier, more natural ingredients in my makeup lately. So when I saw that Taylor Swift was representing a new luxury makeup line from CoverGirl called NatureLuxe, I was super excited! Best of all, it reminded me of a line I loved from Almay called Pure Blends— does that ring a bell for any of you?

I’ve always admired Taylor’s dewy, fair skin, and I knew that if she was representing a line that it must be good. But all Taylor admiration aside, I was really intrigued by what Cover Girl was trying to create with this new line. With NatureLuxe, Cover Girl has swapped out certain heavy synthetic materials in exchange for carefully-chosen natural ingredients and the brand is making its biggest foray yet into better-for-you products. To see if the new line lived up to all the hype, I tested the NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in the shade alabaster (305) and a few of the NatureLuxe Glossbalms.

I was delighted by the clean, touchable appearance the NatureLuxe Silk Foundation gave my fair skin. The foundation goes on very smoothly and felt really light on my face. But what I like the most about this foundation (and what I have a feeling all of you will like too!) are its ingredients.

First off, the foundation is oil and paraben-free. That’s already an improvement on many foundations out there. Second, instead of using heavy emollients, NatureLuxe Silk Foundation includes a touch of cucumber water and a hint of natural jojoba and rosehips extract to create truly luxurious coverage for your skin. The foundation provides pretty nice coverage and I felt comfortable wearing it without concealer on top.

After perfecting my skin with some foundation, I decided to top off the look with a little color on my lips and tested a few of the new NatureLuxe Glossbalms, a gloss-balm combo. The Glossbalms’ natural ingredients (think mango, shea and other butters) provide a lighter, more luxurious feel than some other products and offer a hint of shine and moisture.

My favorite was the shade Clove (280). I typically don’t go for brown shades on my lips, but after testing this shade I can safely say that it’s the perfect universal shade because it offers a hint of color without overdoing it.
