It seems that we’re not going to let up until you are convinced that you can wear purple on your face without looking like him… or him… or even him.

How To Wear 2014 Pantone Color Of The Year: Radiant Orchid – The Best Fuchsia, Purple, Pink Shades From Urban Decay, Laura Mercier, Merle Norman, Shiseido, Cargo, L’Oréal

To ease you into your new favorite color, SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE have released their 2014 Color of the Year Radiant Orchid Collection. A line full of petal-soft to vividly intense purple hues. Eyes, lips, cheeks (yes!) and nails will be dripping in this royally appealing color. Some other great items from the collection include:

I got to smother my lips in the Radiant Rush Matte Lipstick, a limited-edition shade infused with orchid essence for nourishment and collagen for a subtle plumping effect. I wouldn’t say this lipstick is completely matte — more of a comfortable satin finish. On me, it applied smoothly and gave off a purple-pink hue, instantly brightening my entire face.

The next product that even I was a little wary to try (I’ll admit my makeup fears!) was the Rush Luster Cheek Sweep with a purple cheek color hue and 2 corresponding luminizer shades. I wore this cheek look without a full eye, just to let the pop of color work its magic.

The blush provided a flawless effect and made me look all glowy and happy. You can tone down the purple by using the 2 Luminizers in Bridal Rose and Spanish Villa. It’s a fun little cheek palette that will look great with a tan come July.

And although the new SEPHORA COLLECTION Moonshadow Baked Palette In The Tropics is separate from the SEPHORA + PANTONE UNIVERSE Collection, I couldn’t help but want to try out the 3 purple shades: Grenada (deep pearly purple), Bermuda (sparkly light orchid purple) and Fiji (silver shimmery lilac).

I actually did apply these shadows with a damp brush to contain their minor fallout you usually find with baked shadows. The shine was intense and the liquid-like formula really lasted throughout the day. They are certainly eye-catching and would be great for nighttime (or daytime, who doesn’t want to sparkle 24/7?).
