28 Apr Review, Swatches: Illamasqua Paranormal Collection Summer 2013 – Nail Polish Varnish, Eyeshadow, Precision Bronzer, Ink
“The Paranormal Collection was inspired by unbridled kinetic energy, spectral light and transcendental emotional forces. The things we can’t explain, that we can only feel, the place between dreams and reality: the door of perception is open and is beckoning you through, step to the light!” — Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director
Available April 30th, this collection for Summer ’13 at first glance made me wonder, “Can someone my age wear this?” Bright neons, fuchsias , limes and pinks? Illamasqua has a way of making the latest shades for every woman. Including me.
My favorite part of the collection is the Limited Edition UV Nail Varnish ($17.00). The texture of these polishes are wonderful: When they dry, they have a slight metallic sheen to them, yet are smooth. Once again, Illamasqua is at the forefront of nail art.
Three new shades for summer: Omen (paranormal bright-green; swatched), Seance (paranormal bright-violet) and Ouija (paranormal bright-pink). Each looks beautiful and funky by themselves, however, if you want to step it up a notch, apply Geist (paranormal glow) on top of any nail polish to make it glow under black light. When you apply this over your polish, your nails are anything BUT normal. When seen under black light, all of the nail polishes glow like a candle at a seance. So very hip and cool!
Next up is the Paranormal Palette ($46.50). A brand new eyeshadow quad for summer boasting four warm and eclectic shades to spark up your eyes. Paranormal (Vivid Cerise), Aura (warm copper), Possession (cool green) and Trance (soft violet). Afraid they won’t blend? Don’t be, this water resistant shadow is infused with spherical silicone which makes application effortless.
Need a little warmth to your ghostly pallor? Supernatural is the newest shade of Gleam cream ($26.00)! Supernatural is a warm bronze, which can be used as a highlighter for darker skintones or a gorgeous tan for lighter skin. I love the texture of this product — it is so lightweight and doesn’t look greasy on my oily skin. Just perfectly dewy and luscious.
Last but not least is the Precision Ink ($27.50) in Scribe. This pure white, water-proof liner is wonderful for defining cat eyes and emphasizing any line work you want to highlight on the eye.
So, there you have it: This Paranormal Collection will ease your way through the doorways of unknown possibilities of looks from the tame to the extraordinary.
