Photos/Interview: Cynthia Rowley Backstage Beauty Spring Summer 2012 New York Fashion Week

Designer: Cynthia Rowley

Hair: Amika

Makeup: Lottie for Make Up For Ever

The Look: A very simple look

Lottie says that the look for Cynthia Rowley Spring Summer 2012 is “a very simple look using Make Up For Ever HD Foundation and concealer –in fact, four products total.” The lips also are bereft of color: she used lip balm. The eye has some light eye shadow, depending on the girl’s skin tone, and there’s no eye liner. Lottie used the Brown Mascara from the Smoky Lash collection to enhance the eyes.

Since the models were going for that “fresh skin” look, it is important to hydrate, says Lottie. “Going for perfect skin moisturization is key, as is drinking water.” Since the collection has a “lot of color and a lot of detail, I wanted the makeup to be the opposite of that,” says Lottie. “Nothing clashes against the clothes or anything.”

The hair, done by Amika, had some gentle curls with a shiny texture. The arrangement of the hair curls goes in and out. The lead stylist used the triple barrel curler by Amika to get the curls (depending on how tight the curls need to be). He prepped the hair with a perfecting spray and after he gets the curls he used the Amika Hair Heat Defense Serum. The look was deliberately along the lines of hair that hasn’t been washed for two days; the hair has a bit of separation and texture on top using the Obliphica Curl Defining Cream.
