Revlon and NARS Cosmetics were onset to provide pops of color for a 60’s mod effect, extreme eyeliner, muted grey/glitter eyes and hooded lids for designers such as Altuzarra, Alexander Wang, Lisa Perry, Thakoon and Rag & Bone. Read on to see which products were used backstage to get the look for yourself.

Who: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, backstage at Lisa Perry

What: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, captured designer Lisa Perry’s vision of a modern girl’s take on the popular mod look of the 60s, to complement the bright and vibrant designs of the designer’s Fall ’13 Collection.

“I wanted to create a look that complimented Lisa’s clothing, something playful with strong references to the 1960’s,” says Westman. “I focused on the eyes and went for something retro. T

o make it a bit more contemporary and modern I opted for bright colored liners in blues and purples, rather than black and added shadow on top for an extra pop. I kept the skin simple and natural and created subtle freckles on the nose with a nude pencil.”

Look: “Alex had this idea of creating a shadow with makeup on the eye, and so we decided to make the eyes look almost hooded. It’s a matte look, with a gradation of grey color brushed up into brows.”

Who: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, backstage at Rag & Bone

What: Revlon Global Artistic Director, Gucci Westman, juxtaposed the masculine designs of Rag & Bone’s Fall ’13 Collection with a soft and feminine makeup look.

“I wanted to create a look that was super girly and contrasted with the masculine feel of the collection,” says Westman. “The focus of this look is definitely the eyeliner.

I added a bit of a modern twist to a classic 60’s look by using a gel liner across the top of the lid. I kept the rest of the look simple and paired it with natural and luminous skin. I love how the whole look is a bit retro, but still fresh.”

Designer: Altuzarra

BeautyStat’s very own Erin Sutera gave us some of her favorite cosmetic picks to help recreate this muted, grey wash eyeshadow look at home.

“I would use Illamasqua Cream Pigment ($26.00) in Delerium. Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow ($21.00) in Sterling is a fool-proof shade to use as a wash of color.”

Nars Thakoon glitter eyes 2 '13

NARS created the look for the Thakoon runway show.

Show: Thakoon

Lead Artist: Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics

Look: “Thakoon’s winter collection is inspired by summer,” said Kendal. “So it was a combination of rich fabrics with short-sleeved dresses and heavy stoles with dragonflies.

We wanted to reflect that in the makeup, so we did a very dark midnight blue shadow, but to get that summer feel we added glitter on top. It created the perfect juxtaposition between winter and summer.”
