14 Nov Makeup Review, Swatches: Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Lip Gloss – Wax Free, Saturated Color
I cannot tell you how many compliments I have received on my new lavish lips, with the help of Color Sensatioanl High Shine Lip Gloss from Maybelline ($7.49 at mass retailers nationwide). Now, if I could only look like Erin Wasson! I had the pleasure of sampling five shades, which you can see in the picture, and took a very strong liking to Gleaming Grenadine!
As I’ve recently posted, a strong lip is my new look (having gone lighter on my eyes). It all started looking at pictures of Marilyn Monroe and yes, Madonna too. I also love the nudes in this collection when I put on a smokier eye. At night, I feel more free to experiment with bold lips and eyes and often think it’s okay to do so. There was a time when I was told to simply play up one area and one area only. Rules like that were meant to be broken when done in moderation, of course!
There are twelve new shades that are wax-free and provide the ultimate shine without dehydrating the lips. Nothing sticky, nor tacky after application. A creamy shade that is never dull or flat is your result. New Color Sensatioanl High Shine Lip Gloss provides color so saturated that it truly needs no underlays or liners.
I need liner always as I tattooed my lips, so either I start with a neutral all-over color or a color in the same shade underneath (my tattoo color is a bit pinky-brown for the reds by itself). I have often used my Cover FX foundation over my lips as well. Note: there is now what’s called a new doe-foot applicator for optimal ease of application.
