Look 2: Sweater Weather at Your Tips

Step 1: Begin with one coat of deborah lippmann Gel Lab Pro base coat and let dry fully.

Step 2: Prep for polish application by unscrewing the caps of all bottles first – Earth Angel, She Wolf, Can’t Be Tamed and Miss Independent.

Step 3: Working on one nail at a time, dab between 2-4 droplets of polish on your nail with each of the 4 shades so that at least ¾ of the nail is covered.

Step 4: Before the polish has a chance to dry, use a dotting tool or toothpick to quickly swirl together the different shades on your nail, creating a marbled effect. Wipe any excess polish that may have transferred to your skin with an orange wood stick or cotton swab for easy cleanup. Wait at least 5 minutes to dry.

Step 5: Finish the look with deborah lippmann Gel Lab Pro top coat.

You have been so busy with your Thanksgiving meal prep, you may have forgotten about your Thanksgiving beauty prep! Take some time for yourself and either paint your nails on your own or treat yourself to a manicure in a salon. According to celebrity manicurist and owner of As U Wish Nail Salon, Skyy Hadley, “A gorgeous red polish is a beauty classic and should be a staple in every girls’ beauty closet. I love wearing a red polish, especially during the holidays because it makes me feel festive and goes well with all of my outfits.” Below are some tips from Skyy Hadley on how to apply a red polish just like a professional manicurist. Which red would you wear?

  1. Make sure nails are clean and all residue is removed. This can be done with nail polish remover.
  2. Always use a base coat. This will prevent nail staining and make your polish last longer.
  3. Apply two coats of a red polish of your choice making sure the polish glides on smoothly without clumps.
  4. Finish with a quick dry top coat to prevent any smudging.
  5. Use a toothpick with a little piece of cotton soaked with acetone to go around each nail and clean up any polish that may be on the skin.
  6. Once nails are completely dry, apply a cuticle oil. This will make your manicure last longer and look like you just walked out of the salon!
