L'Oreal Infallible Stars Never Fail Lipcolor Compacts

I love a glossy pout or petal soft lipstick as much as the next girly-girly, but featherweight lip products won’t last through a sprint, let alone the marathon of work and play. Naturally, I eagerly road tested three new celebrity shades of L’Oreal’s Infallible Stars Never Fail Lipcolour Compact with visions of a single application dancing in my head. After several misfires with the lipstick/gloss duo, I found that the color works best when I think of it as a stain – I dabbed just a little on and evenly coated my bare lips with the pigment. Once that layer dried, I used the gloss to keep dryness at bay.

Learn from my mistakes: If I applied too much lipstick, or tried to prep my lips with a primer or balm, the color peeled off in a manner most unattractive. As soon as I got the method right, though, I had a whole day’s worth of unmovable lipstick for my pains.

L’Oreal tapped its spokesmodels to inspire their range of colors. Below are three stars and the shades they created.

Beyonce’s Red

Beyonce’s Red brings out the Sasha Fierce in the shyest wallflower.

Diane Keaton’s Tuberose

Diane Keaton’s Tuberose classes up neutrality.

Kate del Castillo’s Plum (not shown) perfectly compliments a smoky eye without overpowering in the slightest.

These never fail lipcolour Compacts retail for $11.99 at drugstores everywhere as well as at www.lorealparis.com. They come in six shades:

* Diane’s Tuberose

* Beyonce’s Red

* Kate’s Plum

* Andie’s Rose
