It’s almost winter so you know what that means – we are either switching up our fragrances to suit the season or purchasing fragrances as gifts for others because of the holiday season! Today I’m going to share with you my thoughts on some fragrances from Commodity that I was able to test out as well as their Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales!

From Black Friday through Cyber Monday, Commodity has partnered with The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund to make the world a bit brighter. From midnight 11/23 to midnight 11/27, 50% of all sales from Commodity will be donated to assist victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irene. Additionally, all donations that Commodity makes up to $5MM will be matched by The Cantor Fitzgerald Relief Fund. 100% of every dollar raised will go directly to support the victims, as opposed to administrative funds to support the charity. Commodity is offering a covetable gift with purchase – a complimentary 10 ml fragrance or bath bar with the purchase of a cozy candle or 100 ml fragrance.

Now… let’s talk about the fragrances. That’s what you’ve been waiting for, right?!

Commodity Bergamot 100 ml Fragrance | $135

Commodity Bergamot is an energizing gender-neutral blend of bright, green notes and stark, bracing citrus. It is fresh yet sophisticated. Precious woods and amber hues support the composition’s citrus signature, while Amyris Oil from the Dominican Republic imparts a creamy, final effect.

• Top Notes: Italian Bergamot, Brazilian Green Mandarin Oil, Clementine Oil
• Mid Notes: Jasmin Sambac Absolute, Moroccan Spearmint Oil, Egyptian Geranium Oil
• Base Notes: Patchouli Oil, Vetiver Oil, Blonde Musks, Violet Leaves

Commodity Book 100 ml Fragrance | $105

Created by perfumer Ketrin Leka, Commodity Book is inspired by the great novels of Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Commodity Book is an exciting mixture of eucalyptus and sandalwood with many unexpected twists and pleasantries. This is a fresh and woodsy scent that is loved by both men and women. Commodity Book is part of Commodity’s Black Collection, which includes scents that are complex, intense, and moody.

• Top Notes: Virginian Cedarwood, Bois de Rose, Eucalyptus, Bergamot
• Mid Notes: Alaskan Cypress, Amyris, Amber
• Base Notes: Musk, Sandalwood, Velvet

Commodity Gold 100 ml Fragrance | $105

Created by perfumer Donna Ramanauskus, Commodity Gold is inspired by money in liquid form. This delectable scent is capable of lifting your mood with just one spray. As luxurious and elegant as the name suggests, Gold is a warm and gourmand scent that is loved by both men and women. This rich concoction of molten amber and Nubian musk is indulgent enough to bathe in. Gold is part of Commodity’s White Collection, which includes scents that are light, airy, and easy.

• Top Notes: Bergamot, Juniper Berries, Camphor
• Mid Notes: Amber, Vetiver, Benzoin
• Base Notes: Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Creamy Musk

Overall, as I’ve been using these fragrances and testing them out, I’ve come to love each of them for different reasons! They are all so distinctly different. Gold is very light and airy, as Commodity describes it. It’s a softer scent but I definitely pick up on the vanilla. Bergamot, I would say, is more middle of the road in terms of light and intense. The scent is amazing though and definitely something that could be worn by either a man or a woman. Book is the most intense out of the three and I definitely pick up on the musk in it. This would be a nighttime fragrance for me! Perfect for a date night out. I wear Gold during the day. Bergamot could be worn anytime really. (Of course, you can wear whatever perfume you want. Who needs rules, right?)

The packaging is stunning on these products. They come in glass bottles with different lid caps. It is very elegant and classy, yet simple at the same time – the perfect addition to sit on top of your vanity or dresser. They have a nice weight to them and certainly feel high-end and luxurious. As far as staying power, the fragrance definitely lingers all day, though it does get a little lighter towards the end of the day. The more intense fragrances, like Bergamot and Book, tend to last a little longer than Gold in my experience. When I say longer, what I mean is… You can still smell Gold after 12 hours of wear, it’s just not as strong as Bergamot or Gold at that time, but it is meant to be a light and airy fragrance.

If you’re on the market for a new fragrance, or looking for gift ideas for anyone special in your life, I think the Commodity fragrances are a winner. Considering the donations for items purchased during the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, I would say this is the perfect time to try these fragrances out!
