I did not exactly shed tears over Gwyneth Paltrow‘s “conscious uncoupling” from Chris Martin, because almost nothing about her GOOP-y life seems relatable to me. I like booze and bagels and no one would every describe me as “lithe.” But I do care a whole bunch about the stuff I slather on my face. If I am going to listen to Gwyneth about anything, it would be how to look supernaturally hot and glowy well past my early twenties.

GOOP, and presumably Gwen, have endorsed a line of luxe organic makeup from Vapour Organic Beauty. As you might expect from a brand approved by someone who thinks subsisting on green juice, cedar-planked wild salmon and a sprinkling of Maldon sea salt is attainable for middle class moms, Vapour does not look like your average crunchy hippie sh*t. Before I tried even the tiniest dab of gloss, I noticed that Vapour products look and feel different from health food store cosmetics. Despite eco-friendly packaging, Vapour cosmetics look nice and luxe in shiny brushed metal tubes with modern silver lettering. You can pull it out of your Chloe, not just your hemp satchel, ya know?

Because I am mean, I decided to start with the product I was most skeptical about: Aura Multi-Use Cheek Stain. I don’t generally like cheek stains. Or multi-use products. But I did really like the rosy color I tried, English Rose. I applied a stripe along the top of my cheekbone and blended with the same stippling brush I use for my liquid foundation for a subtle flush. Perhaps not surprisingly, a natural emollient base melts into the skin easily and makes for a very natural look. This was my favorite Vapour product, and shockingly idiot-proof.

Aura also comes in a shimmer formula and a more intense stain. The English Rose shade will be available exclusively on Goop.com. Will you brave this wallet-killing lifestyle paradise to purchase this magical shade? I kind of think you should.

Next up: Elixir Plumping Gloss in Flirt, a warm nude. Elixir promises to “creates voluptuous lips without irritation,” and does not have the signature tingling (burning) effect that so many “plumping” glosses have. I didn’t notice any difference in my lip size, but I have fairly pouty lips to begin with. This gloss does fill in lines, so lips look full and healthy. It feels lightweight and wet on the lips with a lot of slip. If you hate sticky glosses, give this a go. Also, hardcore gloss fans will know what I’m talking about: this formula won’t leave your lips feeling patchy and dry if you decide to wipe it off.

I saved Siren Lipstick in Pin-Up for last, only because I never wear nude lipsticks. Siren Lipstick is made with lots of botanicals, like beeswax, jojoba seed oil, rose buds, lemon balm, and apricot kernal oil. For habitual lip-lickers like myself, this is a much better product than, say, petroleum-based lipsticks. And since the base is essentially an organic Chapstick, you don’t need to prep your lips with a balm before applying. Pin-Up is a peachy nude, and I was pleasantly surprised by the color pay-off and soft, matte finish. I’m anxious to try out the natural formula in a more hardcore makeup-y color, like the bright pink Coquette, blood red Bold or vampy Torrid.

And if you like a smoky eye, try the Mesmerize Eyeliner. The coconut oil base smudges like a dream, perfect for those lived-in bedroom eyes that can be tricky to create with a firmer pencil. Plus, Vapour is gentle on sensitive skin.
