Review, Swatches: STEAMCREAM - Natural Moisturizer For Face, Body And Hands

“Perfect timing,” is what I said to myself as I opened my British imported STEAMCREAM a few days back. Of course, like most, I have me some London 2012 Olympic fever, so I was really excited to try one of Britain’s very popular facial and body creams. What exactly is STEAMCREAM? Well, it “is the perfect on-the-go product for every lifestyle. The multi-tasking cream for face, body and hands is formed using a revolutionary steaming process to create a light and glossy texture for quick absorption.”

STEAMCREAM contains 100% natural and vegan ingredients including oatmeal, orange flower water, almond oil, lavender oil, organic jojoba oil and cocoa butter which is topped with a light herbal fragrance of the blend of natural oils. The cream comes in a very sturdy tin container which is made of aluminum (very environmentally responsible packaging). Each tin comes in a ton of designs, which are designed from Japan! The tins range from beautiful floral patterns to limited-edition designs like the Make Up Artist Collection debuting this September for S/S ’13 London Fashion Week with the likes of Wendy Rowe, Jemma Kidd and Ruby Hammer each adorning their very own STEAMCREAM tin. The tin designs aren’t the only thing to rave about this amazing product. Let’s pop one open and talk about what’s inside!

My package contained two creams in two different tins: the new Kukka (£12.95 each; about $20.00) — which is Finnish for flowers — and the Liberty tin (how nationally appropriate, thank you STEAMCREAM!). The tins are packaged very securely — no worries of any product spilling out! Upon opening the tin there was a sticker proclaiming STEAMCREAM’s 2010 Beauty Insiders’ Choice win. Now, this has to be some good stuff!

The scent of the cream is very relaxing. You can really smell the oatmeal, which is softly mixed with the other herbal scents creating this uniquely rich aroma. The orange water and lavender really pop after the initial oatmeal scent lingers. I swatched the cream on my hand, and, as I glided the cream along, I could see that the consistency was very light yet emollient. I figured this cream might have a heavy formulation, but it absorbed into my skin rather quickly! There wasn’t any greasy residue left on my skin (a factor I was worried about due to all the natural oils included in the cream) yet it had the intense moisture-retaining capability of a heavy body butter. I figured to save one tin for my body and the other for my face — for sanitary reasons.

I used the STEAMCREAM on my feet after exfoliating with a pumice stone; my feet soaked in the cream immediately — and felt very moisturized and extremely soft by morning. I put some of the STEAMCREAM on my face, too. I was a little nervous since I have acne-prone and combination skin, so I figured my best bet would be to try a small area on my left cheek, which gets a little dry Editor’s Note: Always when using a new product do a spot test!>. So far so good! The cream soaked right in as it left my skin feeling completely moisturized. I might save this cream for nighttime during the summer months, but this would be ideal morning and night as soon as winter hits. It has such a great feeling on the skin that it would also make a great primer before applying any face makeup.

I really admire all of the naturally-derived ingredients in the cream which are obtained from suppliers who are anti-animal testing. STEAMCREAM is all about nourishing and protecting the skin using the best ingredients out there. For more information on the product and ingredients please visit Steamcream.co.uk. You can order the product from there or, I found STEAMCREAM also being sold at Beautyhabit.com and Topshop.com.
