Smoky is back and hotter than ever. Thanks to Make Up For Ever, as usual, for upping the ante when it comes to the lash effect.
The brand’s fall 2011 smoky offerings include: the Smoky Eye Palette, Smoky Lash mascaras in vibrant, wearable colors and Kohl pencils. Below I’ve reviewed two Smoky Lash mascaras (in #05 Blue and #04 Green); and the Kohl pencil in Pearly Deep Blue.
The Kohl pencil is a fabulous tool for the smoky eye effect because it blends very well all over the lids. Below, I’ve just used it as an eyeliner and you can see how much it makes the eyes pop. The Smoky Lash mascaras really gave my lashes length, volume and color: a triple whammy, It is a tad bit drying, so I would advise you moisturize your lashes before application (what I do is use my face moisturizer all over my eyes too, including my lashes…a neat trick). Below, I’ve coated my lashes twice so that the brush evenly deposits pigments all over.
The Smoky Lash Mascara from Make Up For Ever is one of the best mascaras I’ve tested: the wand is nothing special or new, but the pigments are fantastic. Just for the effect alone, you should buy at least one of these colors, if not all. At $22 a pop, these beauties are worth it. The Kohl Pencil is $17 each and does not smudge but easily comes off. It lasts a loooong time.
