Laura Mercier is one of the most in-demand makeup artists around. She of course has worked on some of the most beautiful faces in entertainment: she is responsible for Madonna’s makeup looks in Evita as well as in her Ray of Light album and video look. Laura Mercier is known for her ‘flawless face’ — the ‘the concept that making skin look perfect is the first and foremost important thing a woman can do to achieve a great look.’ Her line encompasses everything you need for a perfect face and body. From skincare and fragrance to body creams, she has something for everyone.

I will admit, even as a seasoned makeup artist myself, I can find the line a bit overwhelming due to so many products, however, I have NEVER been disappointed with any of them. Custom personalization is the way of the future, and Laura is on trend this spring with her Portfolio Animation Collection. You can now streamline your makeup bag with three to six custom shades and have all of your products on-the-go.

As I mentioned before, Laura is responsible for Madonna‘s bronzed Ray of Light look for her video. And, if you read my posts, you all know how much I love Madonna. How does a pale gal like myself even start to get that bronzed goddess look? Laura introduces Sheer Crème Colour this season. My favorite is the Bronze Veil! Voilà. I, too, can look as if I have been sitting on a beach in St. Tropez. There are also two other shades this season Pink Cheek Veil and Pearl Glow Veil. You can use them all together to create the ultimate sculpted face, or alone like I did. Get these fast as they are limited edition! Having combination skin I usually don’t gravitate towards cream products, however, these are non-greasy and easy to touch-up, even over powder.

Now that you have your cheek color covered, you need to add some pizzazz to your lips! Lip Glaze gives a sheer, transparent shine to lips. Not sticky at all! Even the ingredients whisk you away to some other place: Monoi de Tahiti Butter. I love it on my skin, and it feels like heaven on the lips! This product is also limited edition and comes in berry-licious shades. Soft Pink, Plum (pictured) and Lotus Bloom (pictured). My personal favorite is Lotus Bloom — it’s a nice shade that looks like your lip color just more enhanced; Plum is also gorgeous. For my skin tone, I found it better suited for nighttime. For those with darker skin, it’s perfect for everyday!

Last up for new products for spring is the Second Skin Cheek Colour. I love the texture of Laura’s eyeshadows and cheek colors. They are finely pressed and have light diffusing properties (who doesn’t want to look like they are in soft focus all the time?). The blushes also contain natural spherical polymers which provide skin-smoothing properties and micronized pigments, which account for the smooth texture of the product. There are eighteen shades in all; 5 are new for this spring: Sweet Mandarin, Honey Mocha, Heather Pink, Peach Whisper, and Soft Iris.

All of these products will be available March 2012 in department stores and www.lauramercier.com

Sheer Crème Colour – $22.00 Limited Edition
Lip Glaze – $20.00 Limited Edition
Second Skin Cheek Colour – $24.00

So, are you going to add some French chic to your look this spring?
