Review: L’Oréal Ideal Moisture 48HR Day Lotion SPF 25: Dry, Normal, Sensitive Skin Formulas

Review: L’Oréal Ideal Moisture 48HR Day Lotion SPF 25: Dry, Normal, Sensitive Skin Formulas

According to L’Oréal, this new trio of oil-free lotions works to hydrate and soothe sensitive skin. The lotions combine “48HR moisture with Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 25 Protection” and the “skin-softening formula is infused with the antioxidant vitamin E and lightweight hydrating ingredients for moisture that feels clean & barely there.”

In addition, L’Oréal claims that skin will immediately feel “soothed & more hydrated” and that after four weeks, results are even more dramatic. The oil-free formula in all three lotions is dermatologist-tested for gentleness and is non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores.

L’Oréal Ideal Moisture Normal Skin Day Lotion ($6.99)

Since my skin is normal, I used this lotion for several weeks. It went on easily and absorbed well, and I liked the SPF 25. But it is almost impossible to tell if the promise of 48-hour hydration was being met because during that interval, I washed my face and applied night cream etc. at least twice. It’s a good product, as almost all those made by L’Oreal are, but it did not seem to deliver anything special or new.

My skin is not that sensitive, so I offered this to a friend with very sensitive skin to try. Many products irritate her skin, so she has to be very careful of what she uses. This product did not irritate her skin at all, and she was very grateful for that—“a real winner,” in her words. She will be making it part of her regular beauty regime.

Again, I gave this to a friend with dry skin to try. She reported back that yes, it did address her problem and she could see a reduction in dryness. But many other creams, used regularly, also address this problem, so she was not sure how this one was radically different or new.
