Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Cloud Cream Cleanser, $28

Billed as a “non-stripping, fragrance-free cream cleanser,” it is said to “gently remove makeup, excess oil and impurities while moisturizing skin,” and to “help maintain skin’s moisture levels for a radiant, more youthful-looking complexion.” The product is ophthalmologist-tested for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Key ingredients include:

  • Hyaluronic Acid – helps improve hydration by attracting and retaining up to 1,000 times its weight in water from moisture in the air.
  • Sodium PCA – helps lightly and naturally hydrate skin.
  • Coconut Oil – helps nourish and moisturize skin while emulsifying dirt and oil.
  • Marshmallow Root Extract – promotes softness and smoothness. helps soften and soothe the look of skin.

I used this in the shower to wash my face. I’d been wearing make up and I lathered it up well. Soft, light and fluffy as the marshmallow root that is one of its ingredients, it did a terrific job of cleansing without stripping or drying my skin. Instead my skin felt soft, smooth and hydrated, without any residue. Now that cold weather is coming, I’m going to make this cleanser my go-to product for clean, fresh, soft skin all winter long.

Peter Thomas Roth Skin to Die For No Filter Mattifying Primer & Complexion Perfector, $28

This primer claims it will, “instantly blur, fill and help reduce the look of pores, fine lines and imperfections with a natural-looking matte finish.” A powerful mattifying complex absorbs excess oil while powerful Disa-Pore 20 and Evermat™ help reduce the appearance of pore size and shape over time. The subtle, universal tint is said to “instantly blends with any skin tone and shade.” .

Other ingredients include AuraSpheres and gransil EP-9. It can be used under makeup for “flawless, professional-looking results,” or alone for a “naturally beautiful, no-filter look.” It is for all skin types.

I have to say I was a bit skeptical about this product—it frankly seemed unnecessary to me. Wrong! I applied this to cleansed, bare skin—and wow! It really did even out and perfect my complexion. And when I added my foundation, it gave me a flawless but natural finish—very lightweight and wearable. I’m glad to say I’m a new convert and will be making this part of my regular routine.

Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Patches, $52

These gel-coated eye patches are said to, “visibly awaken fatigued skin with a burst of hydration on contact.” Infused with hyaluronic acid, ceramides, hydrolyzed collagen, and antioxidants, the gel formula claims to “visibly contour eyes and lock in hydration while de-puffing this delicate area.” The patches contain soothing marshmallow root extract and softening silk proteins so under eye skins “looks and feels healthier.” Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive.

I have to deal with puffy eyes almost every day so I was eager to try these gel patches and I’m glad to say they are very effective, as well as very soothing. Using the plastic spatula provided, I lifted off two patches (you can use one patch for both eyes, but I wanted to create a home-spa experience so I decided to use one for each eye) and positioned them under my eyes. Then I sat back and relaxed in front of the television for 15 minutes. I loved the way the cool gel made the under eye area feel; very pleasant. And when I lifted them off and washing the residual gel away, I noticed a marked difference in the puffiness in that area—woo hoo! These are going to be a staple in my arsenal and I plan to have them on hand always. You do need a bit of time to let them work their magic but they are indeed worth the wait.
