This new Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque, $32.00, claims to be a protective and replenishing overnight facial mask that defends against impurities and environmental aggressors. The The facial masque is designed to defend against different kinds of pollution, such as:
- Particulate matter
- Oxides
- Volatile Organic Compounds
- Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons
Formulated with cilantro and orange extracts, as well as nourishing Vitamin E, the treatment masque helps skin feel strengthened against environmental aggressors while helping to prevent impurities from adhering to skin.
I used this product several times over the course of two weeks. I loved the pale green color and fresh, faintly citrus scent. The masque was easily applied, and I left on my face for five minutes. Per the directions, I then wiped off most of it using cotton puffs, leaving the residue on my skin overnight. I did find it left my face feeling somewhat sticky, though my skin felt and looked fine in the morning. I can’t really assess what effect it has on pollutants. All in all, a good product.
Another new product from Kiehl’s is Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque, $32.00. It is a facial mask that invigorates skin and brightens appearance in minutes. Designed to “instantly brighten dull, fatigued skin,” it will also “restore skin’s healthy, rosy appearance over time.” Made with cranberry extract, (an antioxidant packed super-berry rich in resveratrol) and anti-inflammatory turmeric extract, this unique mask also contains micronized cranberry seeds that can be used to gently exfoliate the skin while washing the mask off after use.
I used this several times over a two-week period and now am totally hooked! Loved the pale orange color and invigorating scent. Best of all were those tiny, crushed cranberry seeds that packed a real exfoliating wallop—without drying or damaging my skin. I also loved how easy it was to use: apply to face, let dry for five or so minutes, and then add water or wet washcloth to wash and exfoliate at the same time. My skin looked and felt great afterwards. A little spa experience in a jar.
