Angelo David wants each and every client who walks through the door of his East Side salon to feel special. From the two waiting rooms to the private shampoo areas, you know you’ve walked into a “catered” environment. The salon specializes in Couture Hair Extensions, Couture Color, Couture Additions, Couture Haircuts and offers Shellac manicure/pedicures, Eyelash Extensions, Hair Straightening and other individualized services such as custom made wigs for women and men who suffer from hair loss.
When a client first walks in they are greeted by friendly staff and many products line the walls from brands I love, including Redken, Pureology. Angelo David also sells his own line of hair products that stemmed from his natural knowledge from working with hair. He makes brushes that were mirrored after the Mason Pearson line, combs especially made for detangling and four styling products. His number one seller from his own line is the “Long & Strong Detangler”. It has Horsetail, Aloe and Green Tea extracts that serve to strengthen and protect the hair against environmental hazards.
Because hair extensions are a large part of the business, there are private rooms along a long corridor for these procedures. Placing them in or taking them out can take many hours and having a room to yourself means you can have a sense of privacy and if you are uncomfortable with the way you look, or having anyone know that you are either adding or losing your hair, these uncomfortable feelings disappear. Some clients come in with hair loss wanting to have the volume they used to and Angelo feels as if it’s his job to help them get there. The consultation is free of charge and this is where both you and the stylist talk about what you want and what type of look you are striving for. An average consultation lasts about 30 to 60 minutes long and Angelo comes in towards the end to work out the details. One client could be suffering from baldness and another could be an actress on a TV series in need of longer hair. Angelo David caters to all.
Even with being a Nail fanatic, I had never done Shellac on my nails before today. I had certainly heard a lot about the CND Shellacs because of their 14 day stay and no chip tag lines, but had still never tried it. I learned that the salon added the CND Shellac about a year ago. They still have Essie polishes for anyone that does not wish to do this service. After two weeks, the salon will remove the Shellac at no charge. First a CND base coat was applied and then I placed each hand into a special lighted machine to dry. Then two more coats of my color, a spray of alcohol and I was done in twenty minutes. Although red and oranges were hot Shellac hues, I chose Romantique. The soft pink color looked seamless on my nails and dried so evenly I was addicted to feeling it smoothness. No gloppy areas or extra nail polish floating on my cuticles. Just smooth, shiny healthy looking nails. My son, who is seven, commented that they felt like glass!
Next came the blow out. A younger looking Rick Springfield, named Drew, washed my hair using Pure4Platinum by Pureology products. These products were designed especially for my color treated blonde hair. I noticed that he gave me a cool rinse after conditioning and Drew explained that a cool rinse is healthy after any warmer water rinse as it closes the pores of your hair maximizing the styling products effects. He then towel dried my hair and sprayed multiple spritzes of the Long & Strong Detangler. The comb glided through my hair and I wondered when I could use it on my daughter?! Then came the Angelo Foaming Sea Silk Styler to add volume. Drew made sure to ask me where I liked my hair parted and what style I wanted my hair to look like when I left the salon and I got what I asked for….smooth but still sexy. I wanted some movement as when my hair is blown too straight, it looks limp. Drew talked to me quietly about how he came to the salon and was very knowledgeable about all types of hair.
I look forward to going back to the salon in two weeks to remove the CND Shellac and also visit my new friends at Angelo David’s!
