Makeup Review, Swatches: Bobbi Brown Brighten, Sparkle & Glow Collection - New Eyeshadows, Powder

Give me your tired, ruddy and unglamorous skin. And I’ll give you Bobbi Brown . When I first worked for Bobbi Brown , I was a mere twenty-one-year-old, whose biggest concern was how to look awake at work after all-night dance parties. Now that I’m slightly older, my concerns are to still look awake, although the dance party scene is long gone.

The Brighten, Sparkle & Glow Collection is full of tinted eye brighteners, sparkly eyeshadows, shimmery glosses and finishing powders that are all lifesavers. These products really do liven up the complexion during these harsh winter months. I was lucky enough to review two of these products: the Sparkle Eyeshadows and Brightening Finishing Powder for you this month.

The Sparkle Eye Shadows ($28.00) are amazing! Let’s just say that. As I get older, I hate to admit, I don’t like wearing too much glitter; I don’t want to look like an aging Generation Xer. As I started to play around with these shadows, I was struck by how fine the glitter was, so every age can wear these shadows. They apply effortlessly and look like wet diamonds. Something I like to do: Apply a cream shadow first in a light shade, then pop this over it. It lasts all day without smudging.

Left to Right: Gold Star, Silver Moon and Mica

A finishing touch I like to put with these is navy eyeliner — my go-to liner when I feel tired and/or sick. Bobbi taught me that trick years ago, and it’s one I have stuck too. It never fails and always looks awesome! The shades I have swatched for you is Mica, Silver Moon and Gold Star (a new shade).

The next product I was fortunate enough to try was the New Brightening Finishing Powder in Porcelain Pearl ($50.00; pictured above); you might already be familiar with her Nudes Brightening Finishing Powder — I like to use that in the summertime. This powder is great for us fair ladies who need some revving up in the colder winter months.

This formula has a blend of mulberry, grape and gentian root extract to wake up winter-weary skin. This product also amazes me, because most products like it don’t brighten the skin — they manage to make a fair skin gal look pasty. This product does the opposite! You can brush it on, and it creates the perfect finish for a fair canvas.
