Makeup Review: Get The Look: How To Wear & Apply Blue Eyeshadow - Spring/Summer 2013 Trends

BeautyStat told you first! One of the looks BeautyStat editors couldn’t get enough of was the blue eyeshadow look NARS created for the Joy Cioci runway show at NYFW. Blue eyeshadow is going to be big for Spring ’13, but, how to pull it off for an everyday look without looking too 80’s-pop-princess is the tricky part. Luckily, the Giorgio Armani Kaleidoscope Spring/Summer 2013 Collection is full of black, turquoise and grey — the main colors, accompanied by jade and light blue softened with white to keep the blue eye look more subdued.

For the makeup look, Linda Cantello, was inspired by the color palette and graphism of the show. She imagined a soft grey eye with a contrasting acqua accent with very neutral lips and face, executed with a subtle layering of colors and textures. “Mr. Armani shows me the shapes and colors — I immediately envision the makeup look. He often loves graphic shapes, but this time we rendered the look sexy, with a soft matte grey eye, and a touch of light turquoise blue liner. Fake lashes soften the graphic shape and adds sensuality”.

Skin is prepared and moisturized with the new Crema Nera Extrema ($150.00) and Crema Nera Reviving Eye Compact ($150.00), then perfected with Maestro fusion make-up, giving a luminous matte, cool finish. Maestro Eraser is smoothed on under the eyes and around the nose giving the last touch to a unified skin. The face is finally lightly dusted with Luminous Silk Powder #2 ($47.00). Skin is matte, no highlights.

The grey eyeshadow from Eyes to Kill Palette #1 is applied all over the eye with a rectangular geometric shape in the inside corner of the eye, blended to the outer corner in a triangular shape. The blue eyeshadow from Spring Collection 2013, Palette #1, is mixed with water. A thick line is drawn on the eyelid, close to the lashes. Then a thin line of Maestro Liquid Eyeliner #1 ($31.00; black) is drawn very close to the lash line. To finish, Eyes to Kill Lash Stretching Mascara #1 ($30.00; black) is generously applied. Lips are natural with the Rouge d’Armani Sheers from the Spring Collection 2013.
