The overall theme for Elene Cassis’ show was a soft femininity coupled with a sophisticated and classic aesthetic for his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Accents of coral, baby blue, beiges and whites were complimented with an equally soft, feminine beauty look.

L’Oreal Professionnel hairstylist Amit Abraham created the illusion of a textured bob with a nice cool crimp and a clean, matte finish. Hair was crimped using a curling iron and aluminum foil pieces to ensure that it set smoothly with no-shine. Loose, stray pieces of hair framed the front to give a free-flowing effect down the runway.

“We’re doing Spring/Summer so I wanted to get that whimsical kind of feeling that you have in the spring, with the wind blowing,” said Abraham. “We have some textured pieces left out so that when she walks it’ll blow away and move.”

The Infinium 3 strong hold working spray was used to secure the ‘do without a stiff finish, since the crimped pieces were then brushed out. While the crimped pieces cooled down, the second half the head was box-braided and pinned at the nape of the neck to anchor the “bob.” L’oreal’s new Fresh Dust Dry Shampoo, which will be available April 2012, was used to give an even drier, matte feel and absorb excess oil.

Bobbi Brown key artist Miguel Angel Collado created a clean face with rosy cheeks, lips, and a modern cat eye. “We decided to go a little more romantic,” said Collado, “we didn’t want it to compete or match with the clothes.”

Collado described the foundation as “matte, but fresh with a natural finish, and just a little bit of powder on top.” A lighter-shaded powder was used to give a glow on the center of the face. Bobbi Brown’s Gel Liner was used for the modern cat eye—“We decided to go with a little more definition–thin in the inside and thick in the outside to make it really dramatic,” said Collado.

Using a new rose-gold shade from the well-known Shimmer Brick line, the cheekbones were highlighted with a golden tone and a pop of a pale pink color on the apples of the cheeks. A beige, gold lip color and gloss on the lips finished the look.

Danielle Corbin-Jaime, owner of Nail Taxi Inc. and key manicurist used Ginger + Liznail polish in Half Baked and created a round shape to the nail to give a “half-naked” effect as a subtle compliment to overall beauty look. While she finished off a model, I got a tidbit on maintaining your nails in between mani’s—use a dab of eye cream to push back your cuticles for a quick fix!
