I don’t know about y’all, but this beauty editor is a closeted geek who doesn’t mind letting loose every once and awhile. Sure, I’m crazy about YSL fragrances, soap opera cliffhangers and over-the-top manicures, but I’ve also got a passion for comics and summer blockbusters, too! Lately, I’ve been hooked on the CW’s Arrow. And now that New York Comic Con is here, what better way to bring beauty and comics together than with some cosplay makeup!

Maybe it’s her bombshell blonde locks or kickass attitude, but DC Comics’ Black Canary always has been one of my absolute favorite comic characters of all time. When I heard the character was alive and well on Arrow, I knew this was the look I wanted to recreate. And although comic-verse Dinah Laurel Lance, master martial artist and sexy superhero, is best known for her fishnets, bustier and vampy makeup, Arrow’s Canary, aka Sara Lance (holla, Caity Lotz!), keeps it bold yet sexy with loose-flowing platinum waves, minimal makeup and lots of leather.

To start this look, it’s important to get your skin clear and blemish-free. To get some superhero skin, banish deep-seated dirt and bacteria with the Skin Authority 3-In-1 Skin Cleansing System, which is gentle on skin and gives it the deep cleanse it deserves. After cleansing, it’s important to apply some primer to keep your makeup intact all day long. The Garnier Skin Renew 5 Second Blur Instant Smoother is my go-to base, as it cancels out facial flaws fast and keeps makeup bullet-proof when you need it to last.

For my foundation base, the Dr. Jart BB Radiance Beauty Balm gives me amazing-looking skin, as it covers up acne scars and brightens up your complexion in a jiffy. To conceal pesky under eye circles, I love using the Dr. Perricone No Concealer Concealer , since it goes on smooth and doesn’t cake or fade. Finally, to warm up your face, use the Stila Convertible Color in Sweat Pea for a natural-looking flush.

Since Starling City’s resident superheroine dons a mask, you don’t have to go heavy on the eye makeup. Just simply grab a nude shadow, I love Lorac Eye Shadow in Nude, and evenly dust your lids. For mascara, try Beauty Addicts’ Show Off Mascara, which gives your lashes volume and height without unwanted clumping. If you want to apply some liner for added definition, the Amway Artistry Black Eyeliner is always a good choice.

Now it’s time to talk hair! Normally, any blonde wig would do, but since I’ve finally gotten to my desired shade of platinum, adding clip-on extensions, like the Hair 2 Wear Christie Brinkley 16” Hair Extension, give me great length I love. If you do prefer to go the wig route, I highly recommend this DHGate Wig for achieving a striking style.

To complete this look, grab a bold lippie like the Beauty Addicts Beautifull Lips Lipstick to paint your lips a super-sultry plum shade. Although Arrow’s Canary goes sans lipstick most of the time, the comic book incarnation of the character (check out Bruce Timm’s artwork!) is always rocking some bold color. And voilà! You’re finished! Ready to hit the panels? Just remember that Comic Con is all about self-expression, so it doesn’t matter what you’re wearing, confidence is always your best accessory. But if you are heading off to #NYCC this weekend, please find Arrow heartthrob Stephen Amell, and blow him a kiss just for me!
