The shampoo and conditioner are pretty self-explanatory. If you’re looking to cut costs, consider bypassing the shampoo and splurging on one of the deep conditioning treatments. We absolutely noticed a healthy shine after using the conditioner, but in order to really repair our fried ends, we applied the hair masque and let it sit for about 10 minutes. The goal of the masque is to restore strength and increase elasticity, particularly in highly damaged hair that’s seen its share of over-processing and coloring. While the masque isn’t for daily use, it doesn’t need to be used in conjunction with the conditioner unless you’re looking to do some serious fixing of split ends and dried-out hair. We’d recommend this for frequent hair straighteners like ourselves!

The mending complex is a leave-in conditioner that serves as a barrier against everyday damage, such as endless blow drying, straightening, and pollution. Consider the damage you inflict on your hair by clamping it in a thousand degree flat iron. You wouldn’t shove your hand in an oven without a potholder on, would you? The mending complex is basically just that- a source of protection against the damage we inflict on our hair. It seals the cuticle, and gives you that bouncy, straight-out-of-the-salon hair.

We tested out the line on our victim, Christine, whose thick hair had lost its shine under the weight of her split ends. This photo is of Christine’s wavy locks before using the Quenching Collection.

Christine immediately felt her hair rehydrating while showering. The Quenching Shampoo is a gentle cleanser for all types of hair, while the conditioner instantly smoothes cuticles and packs in the vitamins that have been depleted by over-processing. Christine was particularly impressed with the conditioner’s ability to detangle. After conditioning, she applied the Quenching Masque, which is an intensive, therapeutic moisturizer that only needs to be applied once a week. After letting it sit for 10 minutes and then rinsing, hair is replenished and strengthened. Christine immediately noticed a difference after rinsing out the masque, and commented that her hair felt “very moisturized.”

The Quenching Complex is basically a leave-in conditioner, which goes to work to strengthen the cuticle and increase elasticity and decrease brittleness. We like the complex for its ability to control and smooth hair after the shower, before we subject it to endless flat irons and hair dryers. Christine especially noticed the appearance of split ends and fly away hairs decreased once her hair was blown dry, and commented that her bangs were especially more cooperative.

The tres chic event showcased the different selection of products that Votre Vu has to offer, including its accomplished Face, Body, Men’s Line and Sweet Treats line. Since the skincare philosophy is primarily based on natural ingredients and the culling of skin treats from bountiful French harvests, I was eager to learn more (you all know how hooked I am to natural skincare by now, come on!).

The French do everything so sexily, and I was not surprised to see a fully naked, discreetly clad French model at the event, showing off her flawless body and skin (and a painter capturing her elegance on canvas):

There are so many products in this line, but I wanted to start with some of my favorites: the Shampoo Riche and the Conditioner Light.

The Shampoo Riche is a cleanser par excellence. It really does what it promises: eliminate buildup without leaving a residue or greasiness. There is no sodium laurel sulfates in this product, and my hair felt really squeaky clean (at some point I swear it almost squeaked like a violin) and smelt fresh.$28.

The Conditioner Light is perfect for hair that needs only a lightweight conditioning. It’s pretty rich in texture and weight, but it untangles hair and leaves it silky and glossy. It contains a good amount of hibiscus flower extract and wheat protein to give your locks luster and strength. It also contains a natural UV-inhibiting antioxidant complex. I am completely in love with this conditioner because I had little need for styling products once I used this. $29.

The stylists at Fekkai gave her a sleek look with a slight wave at the end. The way you get this look? Condition the hair thoroughly. Stylist Adir Abergel of Fekkai used the Advanced Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner ($23 each), and left the conditioner on for a full 15 minutes.

He used a deep side part, and took a large round brush ($65) to blow dry hair, ensuring the roots were flat. After the blow drying process, he set the hair with spray, then used a flat iron for that pin straight effect. He curled the ends for a slight wavy effect and added Fekkai’s Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum ($23) for that shine we saw last night.

Her hair was done in a super chic updo, created by TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak. Roszak wanted ”an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy. We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

Here’s how you can recreate Saldana’s Oscars 2010 red carpet ‘do:

1. It’s all about prepping the hair with mousse! I am a huge fan of the TRESemme Naturals line, and was pleased to find that Roszak had prepped damp hair with TRESemmé Naturals Lightweight Mousse. Then she blow dryed her hair upside down.

2. Roszak separated the crown from the rest of the hair and pulled back the sides into a tight pony. Then she pulled the hair almost all the way through but left the ends tucked into a ponytail holder. Note that it wasn’t a PERFECT ponytail, with a few pieces left outside the bun for a slightly messy look.

3. Then she teased the top part of the hair and criss crossed bobby pins to hold the hair in place securely. She also sprayed Saldana’s updo with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray.
4. Here’s a stylist secret! Spray hairspray on finger tips and gently pull the hair around the face with your fingers to loosen the hair, giving it an organic effortless look.

Oscar 2010 Beauty Trend Prediction #1: Classic Beauty and Old Hollywood Style Glamour

Celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine says, “I think the most popular/prominent look on the red carpet this year will be classic beauty statements. If we see color, it will be blush tones and soft roses instead of deep shades of red or vibrant shadow statements. I think this beauty speaks directly to the recession and reflects a more subtle beauty that many women can relate to.”

Brett Freedman (celebrity makeup artist to Vanessa Hudgens, Kelly Clarkson, Reba McEntire, Emily Blunt, Sienna Miller, and Jessica Lucas) thinks we will see Old Hollywood glamor with lots of edge. He predicts paler lips, and lots of eye liquid liner. There won’t be too much tan, and “dewiness for the body will take center stage, with a more subtle look.”

Freedman thinks the eyes will be about lashes and liner, and not really about a “smoky eye.” “I’m thinking Sandra Bullock will buck the trend, I predict a dramatic eye and pale lip. Hair up and with a mix of structured and unstructured waves. She’ll want to have a touch of edge and sex appeal.”

Christina Smith, a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with Julia Roberts, Giselle Bundchen, Reese Witherspoon, Helen Mirren, Jane Krakowski, predicts heavy eye makeup. “False lashes will be in full force,” she says.

Oscar 2010 Beauty Trend Prediction # 3: Pretty and Feminine Hair

According to Stylesight’s New York Trend Director, Andrea Praet, “For hair, expect to see pretty, feminine loose styles continuing. For eyes, expect to see subdued metallics, in shades of pewter and lavender, with accents of shimmering white that highlight the brow and cheek bone.”

Anthony Dickey, creator of the line Hair Rules, says, “People think that Hollywood and the Oscars are synonymous with glamor, recession or not, and we’ll all be watching to see how this plays out on this year’s red carpet. I think that a lot of what you will see on the likes of Sandra Bullock and Julianne Moore will be looks taken right off the runways of Dior and Oscar de la Renta. I predict lots of Lauren Bacall inspired shapes – upsweeps, glamorous period looks that are touchable, not hard or stiff. If I’m right, it means a lot of styles that can be worn by all women off the red carpet, which is great.
