The Organic Freedom to Choose

The Organic Freedom to Choose

July 4, 1776. It was the day our gorgeous land became the United States of America. Fast-forward 234 years and still we celebrate our freedom. We gather with friends and family, grab a tasty bevy, and celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in all things pretty.
This year, I can’t help but stand proud to have the freedom of choice. Off the top of my head, I love that I have the freedom to choose what to wear, what healthy treats …

What’s in a Label? Whole Foods Redefines “Organic”

Did you ever buy a beauty product and later realize that you didn’t get what you paid for? It happened to me just the other day. I was in the shower and when I went to grab my new “organic” shower gel I discovered that what I thought was organic was actually missing the United States Department of Agriculture National Organic Program seal. Talk about an uncertified letdown!
Well, starting June 1, 2011, that won’t happen at any Whole Foods Market in the U.S. That’s right, the country’s first national certified …

Lierac Celebrates the 35th Anniversary of Phytolastil

Last week, Lierac celebrated the 35th anniversary of its signature product, Phytolastil. A French physician created the gel and serum duo as a gift to his wife to remedy her post-pregnancy stretch marks, and lo and behold- Lierac was born.

Many of us know all too well that stretch marks work their way into being during times of quick weight gain, such as pregnancy. As the holistic plastic surgeon Dr. Shirley Madere explains, the stretch marks are better prevented than treated, since no treatment, not even surgery, can completely remove the …

If exfoliating is a cult, we are definitely the leader. In fact, we’ve been known to use everything from coffee grinds to brown sugar in order to slough off dead skin and clear out clogged pores. So when we got our paws on a bottle of Lierac Paris Micro-Abrasion Stimulating Smoothing Cream, we hopped in the shower to give it a test run. Despite being referred to as a face cream, Lierac’s Micro-Abrasion is really a face scrub that is rinsed off after massaging gently for two minutes.

Composed of alumina …

This winter has been the worst on record for my face. 14-20 inches of snow mixed with gusting winds that feel like they have some 200 horsepower is not something you want to subject your birthday suit to — as a result, I suspect that I may have ended up with windburn, which is a serious bitch (thanks, Mother Nature).
Therefore, I’ve had to resort to sensitive skin treatments, and one of the crown jewels during my search was the Sensitive Skin Line from Votre Vu Skincare.

Did you think Anna Kendrick’s face looked like a rose at the 2010 Oscars? Well, I certainly did …it was not overly made up and no striking color stood out on her face; the look was subtle and elegant overall. Kendrick wore a soft pink off-the-shoulder Elie Saab Couture gown and carried a Judith Leiber clutch. Celebrity makeup artist Sara Glick sought the youthful, ethereal beauty for inspiration and wanted to highlight soft, natural glowing skin.

She prepped Kendrick’s skin with Arcona Skincare (a light all natural moisturizer called Magic …

I was definitely expecting Zoe Saldana to wear blue at the 2010 Oscars (Na’vi Princess, where art thou?), but I was swept away by the lavender-lilac-amethyst-purple-violet Givenchy couture number that she ended up wearing on the red carpet.
Her hair was done in a super chic updo, created by TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak. Roszak wanted ”an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy. We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

Here’s how you can recreate Saldana’s …

Tone (www.toneskincare.com) had a polished event on Monday evening in New York City, and One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush was keynote speaker.
“You’ve always got to wash your face,” she said. “That’s a big thing. I should have a particular face wash I use but I don’t. I just have to wash my face all the time, even if it’s hand soap, even if I have to dilute shampoo with water when I’m at a hotel…whatever it is.”(Okay, we mortals have diluted shampoo and slathered it on our faces, but …
