Allure Magazine: BeautyStat Featured In June Cover Story on Dry Shampoos

In the June issue of Allure Magazine, BeautyStat’s founder and cosmetic chemist, Ron Robinson, is quoted in the cover story on the Dry Shampoo trend. Ron says “dry shampoo technology has evolved dramatically over the past few years”. Not only do they hold you over an extra day or two between washes, but they also have styling, volumizing and texturizing benefits.
See reviews of new dry shampoos from Klorane, Bumble and Bumble, Oscar Blandi and Rene Furterer below.

How To Find/Get the Right Haircut & Style for your Face Type And Shape

To cut or not to cut? Do you want Katy Perry-esque bangs or are you more of a Gwyneth Paltrow, sleek straight hair type of gal? Guessing is not going to do you any good because you’ll probably end up with a cut that will make you look like Christian Siriano (which works for him, dolls but maybe not for you).
Remember the incredible Rodney Cutler? The hairstylist who started his eponymous Cutler Salon (now in New York City and Miami) and is a regular darling at Fashion Week? Cutler is …

Best Beauty Looks at the MET’s Costume Ball 2010

At the Annual MET Ball held on May 3, 2010, the stars were sprinkled on the carpet like richly decorated posies. From Anne Hathaway to Kate Hudson, Hollywood’s best and brightest stole the show with tanned faces, flirty, voluminous and ethereal hair. Here are some of our picks for the best beauties on the red carpet last night:
Kate Hudson Sports a St. Tropez Tan and Elegant Updo

David Babaii used Living Proof to get Kate Hudson’s fine, limp hair to a thicker more richly textured feel. The trick? Rubbing product between …

On The Mend: Bumble and Bumble Mending Collection Before/ After

After yet another blow-drying session, we realized our hair was starting to resemble a bale of hay. While we like to think we take pretty good care of our mane, everyday radicals like flat irons, pollution, and over-processing seen to rip the life out of it. So in a mission to banish the barnyard look for shiny and sophisticated locks, we decided we were in dire need of hair therapy. But here’s our issue: Whenever we use a deep moisturizer that hydrates our brittle, split ends, the rest of our …

The fair-skinned English knew a thing or two about protecting their skin in the summertime when they carried parasols as religiously as Lindsay Lohan wears leggings. Well, luckily, we’ve heard of SPF, right?
In this amazingly techno-beauty age where sunscreens now come in the form of soaps and spritzers, leaving the house without some form of UVA/UVB protection is no longer acceptable. Especially if you’re freckled with skin a la Julianne Moore or even the lassie Lindsay — and even if you have skin as dark and mocha pretty as Halle Berry’s, …

Last week, I attended a lavish and very French presentation of a line I had not heard of. Votre Vu, a Paris-based skincare line, has been in existence for only a year, but crafted by a family in France with over 80 years’ experience in custom blending formulations.
The tres chic event showcased the different selection of products that Votre Vu has to offer, including its accomplished Face, Body, Men’s Line and Sweet Treats line. Since the skincare philosophy is primarily based on natural ingredients and the culling of skin treats …

As the world predicted, Sandra Bullock shed her Miss Congeniality-esque role to win the “Best Actress” Oscar for The Blind Side but pretty much used her staple movie look when it came to the hairstyle. The stylists at Frederic Fekkai wanted to bring back the simplicity of Sandra’s hair (as seen in countless films from “While you Were Sleeping” to “Speed”). Deja Vu with a touch of Hollywood glam seemed to be in vogue last night at the 2010 Oscars.

The stylists at Fekkai gave her a sleek look with a slight wave …

Did you think Anna Kendrick’s face looked like a rose at the 2010 Oscars? Well, I certainly did …it was not overly made up and no striking color stood out on her face; the look was subtle and elegant overall. Kendrick wore a soft pink off-the-shoulder Elie Saab Couture gown and carried a Judith Leiber clutch. Celebrity makeup artist Sara Glick sought the youthful, ethereal beauty for inspiration and wanted to highlight soft, natural glowing skin.

She prepped Kendrick’s skin with Arcona Skincare (a light all natural moisturizer called Magic …

Charlize Theron was all Dior from head to toe when she appeared in her amethyst and lilac number on the 2010 Oscars red carpet on Sunday evening for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.
Her dress was inspired by a photograph of Marilyn Monroe who was all “covered with roses”. But it was my least favorite number of the evening, with its bustier rosette details and bride-like train that seemed to evoke Bridezillas gone awry. But I cannot argue that her makeup was gorgeous. So, we’ll work with that…

The makeup was done by Dior’s International …

I was definitely expecting Zoe Saldana to wear blue at the 2010 Oscars (Na’vi Princess, where art thou?), but I was swept away by the lavender-lilac-amethyst-purple-violet Givenchy couture number that she ended up wearing on the red carpet.
Her hair was done in a super chic updo, created by TRESemmé Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak. Roszak wanted ”an editorial look because she was wearing Givenchy. We also didn’t want the hair and make up to compete with the dress so we created an elegant but effortless look.”

Here’s how you can recreate Saldana’s …
