RapidLash Hosts First Annual Wink Week to Benefit Breast Cancer Patients

H.L. Mencken famously used his epitaph to encourage us to wink at a homely girl. In a happier by similarly generous way, RapidLash is using Facebook to encourage us to wink at everyone by announcing the first annual Wink Week, held from June 7th – 11th. RapidLash ($49.95 at drugstores) uses peptides to thicken and lengthen hair, as well as moisturizing agents that protect the individual strands from breaking.

It’s a solid non-prescripition option to Latisse that comes without the risk of iris pigmentation change, and has …

We had reported a little while back on the latest mascara from CoverGirl: the LashBlast Fusion Mascara, but we did not have an actual sample on hand to test. But guess what? We snagged one.

I have to admit, that for a big purple wand that promised happiness like Barney with a round belly, this LashBlast Fusion Mascara absolutely delivered on every single promise: it lifted the lashes, it coated the lashes evenly and superbly – with ZERO deposits at all – and it made my lashes look really long and …

This may well be the decade of the bristle. Or the decade of the eye lash – you decide. From Latisse to Clinique’s Supercurl Mascara which I stash under my bed at night in case some one decides to rob me, I’ve tried countless lash lifters.

Another one looms on the horizon, and it’s Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara, which is exclusive to Ulta.com until March 31st. It has a plastic bristle, and promises to deposit the good stuff evenly over your lashes. It is supposed to “lift, lengthen, volumize and define” like …

Clarins doing makeup for the Summer? I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read about it. The name, Instant Sunlight, is particularly clever and makes me think of lazy, languid beach-filled days on Fire Island and the Hamptons.
The mochas and browns in the Clarins Instant Sunlight Makeup Eyeshadow Palette have summer spice written all over them:

The collection also has a Smoothing Luminating Compact in Natural and Bronze:

There are three Click & Gloss Lip Glazes in Vanilla, Coral & Cinnamon:

I am a die-hard eyeliner junkie. I have jetted out the door, typical “New York Minute” style, wearing no makeup except my eyeliner (which to me – is like wearing a good outfit and killer shoes).
So, naturally, when my dear friend Karen Robinovitz unveiled a bevy of new products to the world at large on HSN, I simply had to have the Lashionista-Modelista Mascara-Eyeliner combo in After Dark.

This is a magical wand because it combines the Bonnie and Clyde, the Bert and Ernie, the Regis and Kelly of eye products: …

I’ve been a big big fan of COVERGIRL’S LashBlast mascara, so I was quite twitterpated when CoverGirl announced that its latest mascara — LashBlast Fusion — was introduced today! There you have it, fresh and hot off the press and too hot for skinny lashes to even have an excuse to exist.

Charlize Theron was all Dior from head to toe when she appeared in her amethyst and lilac number on the 2010 Oscars red carpet on Sunday evening for the 82nd Annual Academy Awards.
Her dress was inspired by a photograph of Marilyn Monroe who was all “covered with roses”. But it was my least favorite number of the evening, with its bustier rosette details and bride-like train that seemed to evoke Bridezillas gone awry. But I cannot argue that her makeup was gorgeous. So, we’ll work with that…

The makeup was done by Dior’s International …

So what does the term In the Studio actually mean? When I think of the word studio, I think of professional photographers, celluloid (which is essentially thermoplastic) and professional lighting. Of course, when it comes to makeup, I think of professionally done makeup – the striking eyeshadows, the dark and architecturally perfect eyebrow arch, and the Elizabeth-Taylor style cat eye.

So MAC Cosmetics’ new collection, which will hit stores on December 26th, will feature two key makeup pieces: mascara, and a powder foundation.
This makes perfect sense to me, because the first …

L’OREAL Telescopic Explosion Mascara is the mass market answer to Givenchy’s Phenomenon Mascara. Just like its luxe inspiration, L’oreal Telescopic Explosion Mascara has a brush that looks like a miniature medieval torture device. The spherical shaped brush is built so that it reaches each and every lash including those hard-to-reach corner lashes.

Bare Lashes

Though it looks like it can do some harm, the brush allowed me to lengthen, separate and coat every lash for a beautiful long fringe. Definitely worth its $8.99 price tag. Find it at drugstores …
