Walking into their Chelsea space in NYC made my mouth water. All I could see was color, tables upon tables of lipstick, eye shadow, face powder, nail polish, etc. in almost every color, plus this holographic-like lip gloss that made my heart beat even faster. If you are a beauty lover like I am you totally understand what I mean. Inglot cosmetics are now in Macy’s Herald Square, with another free standing store location, but, my beauty crystal ball tells me Inglot is going to be a huge success, with plenty more stores to come.

All products are created in Poland, with the exception of the brush kits, and I felt there wasn’t a targeted audience missed when perusing the isles of the brand. They distribute all over the world, so I consider Macy’s a very wonderful client for them and wonder if there shall be more department store locations in their future? They are located in over 280 retail locations worldwide and have been around for over twenty-five years, yet they are just becoming better known here in the United States.

 Inglot is known for its Freedom System — allowing the client to CHOOSE their own eye, lip, eyebrow and face palette. They are paraben-free formulas and come in such a variety of colors that naming shades would take me hours. They also carry a line of O2M Breathable Nail Polish where it’s explained that the formula allows your nails to breathe and grow even though they are polished. Nail Art is available as well with super small brushes for the inner nail artist in you. They have face blush, duo blush compacts, body glitter, face illuminators, and much more.

Richard welcomed me and began to tell me how the line got started. He told me that Perfekt ® is the number # 2 selling product in Henri Bendel. And to me, that says a lot given how many great beauty lines they carry there. He then confessed that he was wearing the products in the line and given how great his skin looked, I had to know more.

If you are looking for a natural, non transferable looking glow that applies without any streaks or orange tones, the body perfection gel is for you. I am fair and I loved using the color “exotic” as it has a glimmer (glitter/shimmer) to it and applies as smoothly as any moisturizer I have used before. It also contains hyaluronic micropsheres, ceramides and shea butter. No funky you-just-got-spray-tanned smell here. No oompa loompa orange tones either. Natural glowing skin only. The eye perfection gel has cucumber extract which is soothing to the skin along with alpha lipoc acid, peptides and both Vitamins A and E. The applicator is soothing just by itself as it remains cool to the skin. It has the same consistency as the other products yet you feel the cooling effect when applied to the eye area. It is to be patted the full 360 on the orbital sphere. Available in three shades (bright, refreshed and vibrant). It retails for $45.00.

The cheek perfection gel can be applied onto the apple of the cheeks by gently patting a dot of color and blending with the palm of your hands. Caffeine serves as a natural antioxidant in this product and boosts circulation while toning and smoothing your skin’s natural texture. The brow perfection gel glides on like a mascara for your brows and sets them in place too. Non fussy or flaky, once again the product feels delightful to the touch. Launching in April are the five shades of the lip perfection gel line. The applicator itself reminded me of Exude, and the gel lipstick/gloss comes out in a proper amount and covers the lips evenly. I liked Hollywood and put it on right away. Each of the6  shades are named after the streets of LA( fountain, vine, Hollywood, Melrose, paramount and sunset) and are $28.00 each. Once they launch, you will be able to purchase them at Sephora (US locations), Henri Bendel, Fred Segal in Santa Monica , Apothia Fred Segal in Melrose, www.perfektbeauty.com and QVC beginning Spring 2012. Harvey Nichols in the U.K. will also carry these as well as Sephora in Canada.

It has been said that Reese Witherspoon, Blake Lively, Victoria and David Beckham, Terry Hatcher among other well known celebs are fans and I can certainly see why. I am off to Sephora to buy some more products as last minute holiday gifts!

So when a copy of “Can You Get Hooked on Lip Balm?” got sent my way, I was pretty psyched to check it out. Based on the blog TheBeautyBrains.com, this book takes some of the most mind boggling, misleading, and even downright false claims that beauty companies throw at consumers, and translates all that hype into easy-to-understand language. The best part? This book is written by a group of cosmetic scientists. And you know what that means? No one is trying to sell you a product, so you can trust the scientific facts as just that—facts.

Being a beauty blogger, I like to keep up on the latest beauty news, discoveries, and controversies. But as a beauty-loving gal in general, I also like to keep informed about the products I put on my body, and I’m sure that’s something you can all relate to as well. It’s pretty difficult to navigate the labyrinth maze of the cosmetics world, but the Beauty Brains help you do so with their wise scientific quips.

Let me say with full disclosure here that I absolutely HATED science in school. So my mind naturally turns to mush whenever someone starts speaking in scientific terms. But that didn’t happen with this book. The Beauty Brains have a genius way of translating dry, dirty facts into entertaining, fun information. And they do so without sacrificing quality.

 

Here are some of the fun facts I learned while reading:

1) You know those big, bad parabens? They’re bad for you, right? Yep, I thought so too. But according to the Beauty Brains, parabens actually are preservatives used to protect your products from disease-causing microbes.

2) You can’t be medically addicted to lip balm, but you can train your body to rely on it, making it more difficult to give it up.

3) No matter what kind of marketing fluff a shampoo company sells you, all shampoos fall into four basic categories: deep cleansing, conditioning, baby, and anti-dandruff.

Anne Hathaway’s red carpet look (the actress wore Red Valentine Couture) was one of our absolute favorites, in no small part because of her scarlet lip. Chanel’s celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee used the following on the actress:

Makeup Look: Thin black line with a defined socket and a deep rose lip stain. She used the Chanel foundation Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup in Limpide throughout the show.

Perhaps January Jones forgot to leave her “Mad Men” character on set – or she just loves the look so much.  An increase in stars wearing red lips on camera can be due to the growing number of television shows focused on certain time periods; Angela from “Boardwalk Empire” is another example.  And Jessica from “True Blood” looks as though she ate a bowl full of cherries; fitting since she is a vampire.  Red lips are a great way to add drama to an otherwise natural look.  They are also perfect if you are looking to take a daytime look into nighttime.

And don’t be scared if you have never tried red lips before; you can always start with a sheer lip shade.  To tackle the red lips full on try NARS Lipstick in Jungle Red or M.A.C.’s latest Lipgloss in Wonder Woman.  If you would like to start off slowly I would recommend Make Up For Ever’s Lab Shine Lip Gloss in S8, a Pearly Ruby Red.

And of course, who can forget Ms. Gwen Stefani’s L’Oreal commercial debut, eh? That was the Infallible Stars lipstick in Ravishing Red, people.
