Adventures with MAC Cosmetics: An Insider’s Perspective

In 2000 I began working for MAC Cosmetics an affiliation that continued for five years. I had always been a big fan of the brand, but I was hooked on my second day with the company after a visit to the MAC Pro store where I met several BEAUTIFUL and animated makeup artists all of whom were eager to teach me about the products and demonstrate how to accentuate my features and bring out my inner beauty. I quickly learned that no matter your age or the color …

Ron Robinson, a 20-year research and development executive for some of beauty’s leading firms — the
Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., Avon Products Inc. and Revlon Inc., to name a few — had come to believe his role
as a scientist and product developer was contributing to women’s confusion about skin care products.
“I was part of the problem,” he said about his past life, one where he concocted everything from antiaging
serums to acne fighters for the industry’s best …

MAC Liberty of London Lipstick Swatches

When I first saw the fabrics from Liberty of London, my heart skipped a beat. These prints — so pretty, so Alice in Wonderland and so flowery — reminded me of books that I had read in childhood, and loved: Enid Blyton (whom many of you won’t know because she’s a British author who seems to be the best kept secret since the Illuminati code), and of course, Lewis Carroll.
Everything about Liberty of London is so British — and yet, so universal. As I mentioned to you before, the packaging …

Of all the MAC collections I’ve seen this past year, Liberty of London had me at Freedom. The makeup, the packaging — everything was so elegant, over the top, 1970’s flower power mixed with elegant Briticism and a carefree joie de vivre (oops, that was French, but what the heck?) that ushers in Springtime.

The kaleidoscopic prints of the Liberty of London designer label are prevalent in this super chic collection. Here we spotlight two eyeshadows, Birds & Berries (a frosted dark green blue in a Veluxe Pearl finish) and Dame’s …

Casting pearls before swine may be a past time that Guerlain enjoys doing on a frequent basis, but I must confess that the Summer 2010 collection of the Guerlain Meteorites Perles is luxurious, eye-catching and delicate at the same time.

The Guerlain Meterorites Perles Makeup collection houses the colorful makeup pearls in a rose-motif silver box. They come in three shades:

1. Rose Tint
2. Beige Tint
3. Gold Tint

MAC Cosmetics’ Riveting Collection ($12 each) had me from “Hello” because of its serious metallic components. But most of all, I love the three nail lacquers from the collection, which are matte in finish.
I simply love matte – I would say I love matte more than a shiny finish, and these shades are wearable with almost any outfit. The only caveat? Be careful how you apply them. These are some seriously thick polishes and a few coats will do the trick, but the way you apply them will really show …

Naturally inspired, yet EFFECTIVE cosmetics are really as hard to find as the Pink Panther diamond. Trust me, I know — having ransacked countless drugstore and high-end department stores in the hope of finding concealers and foundations made with mostly natural ingredients and ending up leaving as disappointed as a kid who didn’t see Mickey Mouse at Disney World.
There is a ton of BODYCARE that is organic and natural and most of those products are very effective, but we’re talking about the foundation of your beauty: the foundations, brushes, concealers, …

Since the weekly rags like the Nat Enquirer, US Weekly and its glossy couterparts (e.g.Life & Style) have been taking the newsstands by storm, it’s not a surprise that MAC Cosmetics decided to take part in this Gossip fetish that’s becoming more Americana than apple pie.

The collection is SO Page Six that the New York Post is probably sending paparazzi out in droves to photograph women wearing them.

These damsels and waif-thin Kate moss lipsticks, liners and fillers will become part of the MAC Cosmetics Permanent Collection.
What we love about this collection …
