(Review, Photos, Swatches) Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup SPF 15

21 August 2011 24 Comments

Clinique is raising the bar when it comes to anti-aging makeup, with its new product Repairware Laser Focus All-Smooth Makeup SPF 15.

Debuting in September, the makeup aims to combat what a lot of women are fighting against: lines and wrinkles. The anti-aging makeup category is exploding (before, the word ‘anti-aging’ usually meant skincare), but now it’s all about multitasking products.

Clinique Repairware Laser Focus All Smooth Makeup SPF 15

The new All-Smooth Makeup with SPF 15 incorporates the brand’s advanced patented technology from the powerhouse de-aging serum, Clinique Repairware Laser Focus. Hence, it’s a de-aging foundation. The aim of the liquid makeup is to soften the lines, cover imperfections and help create a flawless look and feel while helping address the concerns of lines and wrinkles.

This smoothing makeup also aims to prevent and repair the damage caused by UV rays, and the product makes use of ultrasomes that work over time to help visibly repair damaged skin. There’s of course the hydration component to this foundation too; otherwise you don’t want it to be too drying; hence the Vitamin E and Murumuru Seed Butter that strengthen the skin’s barrier.

How We Think It Works

I love this idea, for starters. Anti-aging makeup is still in its infancy, and I’m thrilled Clinique is introducing this much-needed foundation on the heels of its highly successful Repairware Laser Focus. It wears well on the skin as you can see below; even though the shade of the foundation I received is a tad lighter than what I need, it goes on without any fuss, and is easy to blend with your fingers. Does it cover imperfections? Yes, and you don’t need more than one thin layer. Does it hydrate? Yes, but I would advise that you wear a moisturizer as appropriate for your skin type before applying the foundation.

For the price tag of $32.50, this is good value. When it comes out in September, I have no doubt that it will be wildly successful.

Worth a try, hope the colors are true. Usually even the lightest shade in a line is too yellow or pink. I stopped using their foundation years ago because of color & streaking, hope they improved!

Will certainly go for a sample in September. Meantime, the name is repearWEAR, not repairWARE. It’s right on the bottle (pun intented).

Thanks Nanci. We corrected it before we hit publish–maybe Google takes a while to catch up? Appreciate you stopping by!

GK, not sure about the lightest shade but the medium one had a tad bit of yellow undertone (not too much undertones). I would suggest going to the counter for a sample first if you’re unsure…

I like when foundation contain anti aging agents. I have mature skin and I’m always trying to find products for my skin type. I’ve used Clinique foundations before but due to lack of the right undertone availability just for my skin tone I had to purchase other products. I will go for a sample and try this product out. Thanks

If our local department store was not supposed to sell it until September 1, apparently they did not know that. The clerk at our store sold me a bottle yesterday as the suggested replacement for my Clinique Soft Finish make-up which had been discontinued. I bought it even though it was significantly more expensive. The color was fine and it did seem to initially go on as well, or even nicer, than the Soft Finish. I was happy when I first put it on my face. Unfortunately, that is where it has ended for me. Within an hour or so of putting it on, my skin looked dull. By noon, the make-up was mostly gone and my face was very shiny in spots, something that did not happen with the Soft Finish. Not only that, but apparently my very sensitive skin does not like it, as my cheeks and chin are really red and itchy, something I have had happen with other brands, but never Clinique. Maybe I should give my face time to get used to it as this is the first day, but I will be looking for a replacement tonight.

Oh gosh, that really does not sound good! I had no problems with this foundation and it did not irritate my skin at all. I always request a sample of something before paying full price– it saves the headache somehow. I really liked this foundation.

What kind of coverage would you consider this foundation? I know the discontinued anti aging make up that clinique replaced with this was full coverage. Also, what color is that in the picture that you have? Thank you.

  • Charu said:

Angie, this foundation is full coverage for sure. The color shown in this picture is 06 (Medium Fair to Neutral)

What color in this new foundation would be comparable to 02 in the soft finish? Ordering by mail. Hope I get it right.Thanks.

I have been told that there are two new Clinique foundations I should try now that Soft Finish has been discontinued-Repairwear and Even Better.I have tried both. They do not compare to Soft Finish at all.I have tried to order my shade(soft bisque)on line but with no success. This has been a nightmare for me.Soft Finish is the best makeup I have ever worn. BIG MISTAKE,Clinique.Any chance they might bring it back?I’ve talked to many others who can’t find another foundation that compares.

I used Clinique soft finish for years and when I heard it was going to be discontinued I bough every bottle I could find. But alas I have ran out. I was just sold the Repairwear Laser Focus. I hate it! It is way too thick and looks pasty and the longer I have it on the more calky it looks. Looks like I may, after twenty years, have to change brands.

I wore clinique soft finish for several years. I was recommended the repairwear laser focus. It did notwork for me. Im also having trouble getting a good shade that was similar to soft finish. I alternated soft beige and soft honey. Does anyone have siggestions?

  • Lisa Sokolsky said:

Please bring back Soft Finish Makeup, Soft Beige. My skin always looked so good with a lot of compliments, not anymore. Even my husband noticed the difference.

I am still trying to find a replacement for Soft Finish. I have tried all of the Clinique makeup thinking one would work just as well. Nothing compares to Soft Finish. Everything else does not cover the same and makes me look sick. I’ve finally given up and am going to try other brands. Big mistake on Clinique’s part…. they just lost a very good customer. Very sad for both of us.

  • Judy said:

Cannot believe that Clinique has discontinued Soft Finish Makeup! None of the replacements compare!!! Will have to switch from Clinique to another brand. My friends feel the same. Please consider bringing it back and we’ll be back. PLEASE!

  • Judy said:

Please bring back Cinique’s Soft Finish makeup. Have tried all the replacements and nothing compares. My friends feel the same. We are going to have to switch to a different brand. If you bring it back we will be back.

  • Kathi said:

Why on earth do companies discontinue excellent products that have a huge and faithful following? I have tried other foundations from their line and hated them all. Please reconsider, Clinique, or you will see a mass exodus of your faithful customers AND their dollars!

  • Paula said:

So sad.. I too I tring to find a good replacement. All the Clinique stuff us too heavy. Please bring it back. For now it’s no makeup for me:(

I love soft finish foundation. I tried repairwear and it’s terribly shiny and too much coverage. Could anyone recommend other brand’s foundation to replace soft finish?
