Review, Photos, Swatches: American Apparel Sheer Nail Lacquer Polishes
Just in time for summer, these new Sheer Nail Lacquers ($6.00) from American Apparel are, as the name suggests, very sheer. According to American Apparel, they are manufactured in the USA, as well as being cruelty-, DBP- and toluene-free.
I tried all three on bare nails (wanted to get the sheerest effect possible), skipping the top coat too. I found them to be very quick-drying and I loved the sheer, almost watery effect, especially of the Moonlight Beach shade. I used two coats of both Moonlight Beach and Pacific Beach, having very good result. Summerland Beach (a peachy shade) required three coats for any oomph at all.
Of the samples I tried, this one was the least interesting — pretty enough, but not special. The green and blue shades, however, are very special indeed! In fact, Moonlight Beach is now my new fave rave — and I will be wearing it on my fingers and toes all season long. It has a deep, moody feel to it while at the same time captures the lightness and spirit of summer. If you’re looking for a true blue nail color, look no further!
Can I also say a word about price, which at six bucks a pop, is very reasonable for this unique formula. Plus, you can get even more savings by purchasing a 3-pack ($15.00) or 7-pack ($32.00). To see more colors and for more info, please go www.store.americanapparel.net.
