Review: NCLA X Glamour Designer Nail Sticker Decal Wraps: L’Wren Scott, Peter Som, 10 Crosby Derek Lam, Bibu Mohapatra
Thanks to a fashionably dear friend of mind, I first saw these via an instant message photo while she was shopping at Barney’s Co-Op in NYC. I was instantly intrigued! As you know, I am a self-professed nail-a-holic and reached out to their PR team to sample the NCLA Limited Edition Nail Wraps ($16.00). What is even more wonderful than these being created by fab designers is that Glamour partnered with NCLA and the designers themselves for Fashion Gives Back to benefit Girls Who Code.
Fashion Gives Back is a project that Glamour unveiled as a way to give designers the chance to create special bags, shoes or tees to support causes they care about every year. This year’s charitable event was the new must-have accessory: eye-catching nails! Glamour paired four designers well-known for their distinctive patterns and created runway-inspired nail stickers/wraps. Signature prints featured in their Resort 2013 collection are featured and were transformed into limited-edition nail wraps. This incredible collaboration will also be featured in Glamour‘s January issue!
All four versions of the limited-edition nail wrap kits are sold exclusively at select Barney’s Co-Op stores and ShopNCLA.com as of last week! Easy-to-apply at home, each kit contains enough wraps for three to four manicures, which is more than I normally get out my usual go-to brands.
Each pack comes with a nail file and two sheets
I especially love the fact that $5.00 from every kit sold goes to Girls Who Code, which is a program that was launched in Spring of 2012 helping high school girls with the skills and resources to pursue careers in engineering and technology. This program works to educate, inspire and has developed a new model for computer science education pairing intensive instruction to robotics, web design and mobile development. In its inaugural program, Girls Who Code empowered young women from New York City and will launch programs in other cities across the country in 2013.
NCLA is L.A. based and launched in 2011 with a collection of bright, bold easy-to-apply runway and street-style inspired nail wraps. A line of vibrant, long-lasting, five cruelty-free, made-in-L.A. nail lacquers soon followed. NCLA has been releasing new collections of eye-popping solid, metallic and glitter shades and are available in at least 200 fine retailers including Kitson, Nordstrom, Harvey Nichols and ShopNCLA.com. I just saw a few other wraps in a pop-up boutique in NYC just this weekend and am HOOKED!
