Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb Go Makeup Free on Today Show
Would you ever be caught dead on TV wearing no makeup? That too, in HD? Well, chalk it up to the brave gumption of Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb to appear on The Today Show wearing nothing but sunglasses — then taking them off!
It was nothing but the naked truth yesterday on the show, and viewers were in for an unexpected treat (or surprise?). Gifford said, “Here I am, bare and unafraid. The way I go through life. It’s the way I roll.” But Kotb was a little bit more nervous and said that she felt self conscious….she wanted some lipstick, mascara…anything to make her face look more human again.
Other celebrities like Kim Kardarshian have posed sans makeup for Life & Style Weekly, and each year Allure Magazine does an annual nude issue.
So, what does this say about Kathie Lee and Hoda’s message? Are they trying to say that women without makeup are as beautiful as with makeup? Damn straight, and they are. Kathie Lee said that she felt that it was the dumbest thing she’s done in her career, and that statement concerns us a bit. If she really feels that putting no makeup is dumb, then why did she agree to do it?
Tell us, would you be seen in public without makeup?
- Charu Suri

I run to the store or to pick up my child from school all the time with no makeup at all; however, I would not want to go out socially or professionally bare-faced. I am very young in appearance and a natural blonde who dyes her hair dark.
My eyelashes and brows are so fair that you can’t see them well…and that makes me feel like a freak. I know that I am an attractive person regardless, but even just wearing mascara and nothing else makes me feel far more presentable and adorable.
Generally, I wear something to even out my skin tone, specifically my broken capillaries from pregnancy (powdered mineral foundation with a light finishing veil to set it), mascara and a little brown brow pencil, a light layer of nuetral but shimmery mineral eye shadow and a light dusting of bronzer on the tip of my small nose. When I wear this, I feel that my face is genuinely gorgeous. So there you go. Barefaced= I feel weird bc I have no eyelash or brow color and I don’t think it is attractive; mascara only= adorable and young; full makeup=gorgeous. If I had some natural color to my eyelashes/brows, I would feel much happier with a bare face.
yes I would be seen in public without makeup.
