How To Make Curly Hair Wavy And Straight: Before & After Hairstyle Photos

You know the saying, the grass is always greener on the other side. Well such is the case with our hair.  Those of us with straight hair sometimes long for wavy or curly hair.  In fact, one of our editors showed us how she went from Straight to Curly (see her before & after photos HERE). But it seems that those of us with curly hair have to do a lot more work (and spend more $$) to go straight.

One of our readers, Evelyn Lugo, wrote into us to share her secret on how she goes from Curly to Straight.  Here’s what she told us:

Evelyn before

Before I begin this process, my hair is fuzz-ball as you can see above.  First I wash my hair with Pantene Curly Shampoo and follow with Pantene curly conditioner.

Then I use John Freida Frizz Ease (section my hair into 12 mini sections in order to thoroughly get product “in”).

Then I use Ouidad Heat And Humidity Gel (or I alternate with Pantene Curly Gel).  Let air dry and viola!

No matter how many diffusers I buy, they only make my hair look like “Mufasa” from The Lion King, so I skip that step.

For the sleek look, I use Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (seriously, it removes build up and is also great to clean make-up brushes!) I run Extra Strength Frizz Ease through sections of my hair (use Ouidad’s duck bill hair clips) and let air-dry. Then when almost completely dry, I blow dry the roots with a small roller brush and then use my Gilberé Flat Iron (Sally Drug Stores) 2″ ceramic plates. For Shine, I followed up with “Shine” spray on polisher, ($4.00 in drug stores) Frizz Ease is the foundation to any hair style I do – its a must!  Below is the end result of my 5 hour DIY-at-home-technique.

I love it!! Many people don’t belive previous “before & after” articles on Beautystat, so you guys asked, I delivered!! This is my hair in (outside Ouidad hairmodeling, as seen in Catwalk Curls event article here, or after a stylist gets done with me). No need for expensive hair products – “back 2 basics”!

My hairdresser started selling Shielo’s Antioxidant Leave in Protectant spray a year ago and i decided to try it, though i was hesitant. I couldnt imagine that 1 product would actually do all that this one claimed to. I tried it for a week with no other styling products, and since that week i have been a believer! This product is amazing.

I have SUPER THICK curly hair that i blow dry straight and flat iron. The Shielo Antioxidant Spray leaves it feeling amazing. My hair is shiny, silky, soft and not damaged at all. I will not ever stop using this product. I have tried various styling products for years and have never had such amazing results. It really does do everything it claims. It’s also nice to only have to use 1 styling product as opposed to the 2,3, and sometimes even 4 that i was previously using.

Now that is hair health! Great before and after so far. How long is her hair when straight? The first picture reeled me in but the last pic shocked me at the curly to straight transformation. Such healthy and shiny hair!

Thanks so much for the love guys. To answer your questions, if it helps clarify the “transformation”, I’ve never dyed my hair before, so it’s natural (not processed; zero damage aside from the cotton ball frizz, lol!) I guess help my straight-to-curl transformation all the more; giving it is shine. When straight, its actually below my waist (sorry pic # 4 didn’t capture it, we needed a “after close-up” :) You’ll see more of me…
