Hair Trends At The 2010 Tony Awards

16 June 2010 146 views 2 Comments

It seems excellence in the theatre goes hand-in-hand with lust-worthy locks… Or should I say hair-in-hair? Either way, the ‘do’s at the Tony Awards this Sunday were a sight to behold.

Whether up or down, deep side parts gave a nod to recent runway fashions. Massive volume gave way to sensual allure on almost every head. And better yet, almost every look is one you can easily mimic.

For starters, check out the lovely Laura Linney, Dame Mirren and Kristin Chenoweth. Each sported free-flowing waves of varying degrees, but side parts were used by all.

Leading ladies Cate Blanchett and Katie Finneran – the lucky winner of “Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical” – took things a step further, wearing their teased tresses up and smoothly slicked back to the side. Lucy Liu did the same, but let her hair down for a half-up, half-down ‘do.

Meanwhile, Scarlett Johannson and Melanie Griffin packed some va-va-volume of their own. Parts may be hot, but who needs them when you can win “Best Performance By A Featured Actress in a Play” on your own? Congrats, Scarlett!

And now it’s your turn. Simply tease the crown of your head, and part your hair over the arch of your eyebrow. (It doesn’t matter which – both were demo’d on the red carpet.) From here you have two options. Leave your beachy waves down, or sweep them back into a bun or twist, and secure with bobby pins. Slide them along your scalp for tightest hold.

That’s what we call “hair excellence.”
