(Review & Giveaway) A Superb Niche: Ineke Fragrances
Inspired by beautiful flowers and classically trained in fragrance by the ISIPCA in Paris (a university level school of perfumery) and nominated for a coveted CEW award this year, Ineke Ruhland’s Ineke line of fragrances is far from ordinary and makes her a star in the niche fragrance world.
Ineke Ruhland
What sets these fragrances apart is the high quality of ingredients, the time put into making a perfume that smells truly beautiful and that will last long on skin. It’s dedication and talent and that’s often what you see in many of the smaller niche lines.
Conversing with Ineke, you get such a feel for her passion for what she does and how much of that is put into her perfumes. Beyond loving her fragrances, she has inspired me to attempt growing some night blooming flowers this year. She grows many of the flowers that appear in her scents (including the rare Gold Band Lily from Japan shown above) and has many that bloom after the sun goes down and fragrances the evening hours.
The Gold Band Lily
Her perfume collection is alphabetical beginning at A and ending thus far at G. There are seven scents in all. Two of my favorites are After My Own Heart and Gilded Lily.
After My Own Heart was the first Ineke fragrance I smelled several years ago, and this has a place in my heart because it is all about the lilac. Lilac fragrances are not as easy to find, less so ones that really get it. After My Own Heart captures the branch of clustered lilac flowers swaying the April breeze. It’s soft and light with the slight hint of berries and green stems giving it an even more seasonal air. This is the scent to make you stop and take a moment, breathe it in and hit the pause button.
Gilded Lily features the Gold Band Lily. Ineke read about this special flower that has a particularly intense scent, and therefore she sought it out. The perfume, however, is not simply a lily in bloom. It’s a rich and elegant chypre type of fragrance. It’s dry and rich and seems tailor made for sultry evenings. A quick pass by of fruit launches Gilded Lily, and then the oakmoss and amber give it depth all the while intertwining with the lily.
One special highlight in the collection is the sampler box. Each of the seven scents is presented in its own curated and alphabetized presentation box for you to try. The sampler set sells for $25.00 and that price is applicable towards a full bottle purchase.

Makes me feel sexier to get a new fragrance
The ingredients motivate me…I’m always searching for a new fragrance, and the ingredients are what set them apart from each other.
All women look for a good smelling perfume, but other than that I like to find one that makes me feel like a woman. Sensual and classy.
The biggest thing that motivates me is word-of-mouth recommendations. I usually smell a fragrance on someone else, ask what it is, and then head into the stores to check it out. While I might not always buy it, it puts the name on my mind.
I cant wait to make a new memory wearing a new fragrance. Every time I wear it, I get the chance to re-live the moment!
My motivations for selecting a new fragrance are several. I like complicated scents, that aren’t too flowery or musky, or sweet. It has to be balanced and have interesting top notes as well as amazing underlying notes that last a very long time so I don’t have to reapply. When someone smells a scent on me I want it to seem like that scent is me, what I smell like and not a “perfume”. All of the scents I wear have similar notes in them, so there is always something of “me” in each of them… just a little different depending on my moods…
What makes me buy a fragrance is of course how it smells, but more so how it makes me feel. I choose the fragrance I’m going to wear by the mood I am in when i wake up in the morning.
I’m always opwn to TRY new & FUN Fragrances, as i consider myself to be auch a “Free – Spirit” at heart, that I like to “change-up” mu Fragranges with my “Spirts of the Day”. I feel that for Myself, if I were chosen for the giveway — the best gift would be the “Sampler Set” .. So that i could have the Opportunity to sample EACH one of these FINE Fragrances, to decide which one(s) – IF not ALL – “Suit” me the Best!..
Thank you in advance, for your time and consideration of “Me”.. ~
Sincerely,
Ms. Sue Hebert
What motivates me to buy a new fragrance is change. Wearing a new fragrance makes me feel like I’m a new person.
If I like the way a fragrance smells on someone, I like to check it out for myself.
My motivation to buy perfume is the seasons (example spring, summer etc.) and I love smelling good as a woman it boosts my self esteem.
Depends on my mood and the weather. I change fragrances accordingly.
I choose to buy a new fragrance when my husband starts to hint that he’s getting a bit bored with my choice fragrance as I tend to stick with the one I love at the moment for way longer than a moment should last.
I try to buy fragrances that smell like me. It represents my personality.
I like new fragrances for the season. Light and airy for Spring, Clean and Fresh for the Summer, fall and winter I prefer heavier scents.
Where it takes me to when I put it on. I love being swept up in my perfume, it’s one of those untouchable places.
I like unique fragrances that last awhile! I tend to go for fragrances that have fruit like plum in them or just make me close my eyes and enjoy them. If a fragrance does that then I buy it!
I love trying new fragrances. Good scents have a way of making me feel, more confident, & sexy. Would love 2 try this.
love Ineke! Esp Evening Edged in Gold! I’m always motivated to buy a perfume if it gets a lot of chatter online at the perfume blogs (creates instant lemming!)…and if there is a spicy note. I enjoy a line that has something in common between its scents, a ‘theme’ almost…I smell a theme in Ineke!
I actually really like the perfume bottles I purchase! I like to find ones that will look nice on my dresser:)

i like to change with the seasons.
I am a true perfume lover and would love the chance to win this Ineke sampler! I’ve heard such great things about her fragrances on the beauty boards!
Other than smelling good, I like perfumes that:
1) have a great bottle, like the Gilded Lily in this post
2) Have great boxes. I never appreciated this until I began taking photos of the packaging, and now have discovered that it makes all the difference!
3) I prefer fragrances by companies that have intelligent things to say about perfume, especially those that do interviews with blogs. I really enjoy hearing about the creation, the inspiration and the process. It makes the fragrance all the more enjoyable if you know how it was made.
Have you ever read Chandler Burr’s The Perfect Scent? This book does a great job explaining how several fragrances were made, including one by Hermes that I adore now.
I feel better about myself when I know I smell good. I love trying new fragrances and it sems to be a “pick me up” expecially if Im nt having a good day.
If an ingredient catches my eye..I’m sold
As a lot of posts have mentioned so far, I also really love the bottles. Sometime’s I’ll go to antique stores to find vintage bottles, and still buy them even if they are empty, or the perfume has (unfortunately) turned.
I love buying fragrances, they make me feel so great!
I like a scent that not only smells good but is not one that EVERYBODY is wearing. I like feeling & smelling original.
Usually hearing a great review motivates me!
Perfumes like clothes suite my mood, the event, and seasons so I always have few bottles in my powder room:) I love trying new fragrances!

I love creating memories with different fragrances.
Other than fragrance, the main reason I buy a new perfume is because I’m looking for a change.
My motivations for selecting a new fragrance is the season and how it smells on my skin.
What really motivates me to buy a new fragrance is the pricing and the smell of the perfume.
the packaging
pretty bottles bring me back to my aunt that passed when i was young. she would give me the little bottles almost empty but with a few drops for me to use. i used to have a pretty good collection as a young child.
What determines when and why I buy new fragrance depends on the season..more sweet, fresh clean scents, flowery scents for spring/sugary, vanilla, chocolate sweet, for summer/nutmeg/cinnamon/ for winter.. I feel so alive w/my perfumes..it determines how my day will go….more confident!!
Whenever I feel like a pick me up I purchase a new fragrance.
A unique scent motivates me to buy a fragrance.
Just walking through the department store past the perfumes is motivation enough for me to buy! lol
Besides smelling great, a great motivator to buy a fragrance is the way it makes me feel. It is great, and rare might I add, to run across a fragrance that makes me feel perky or puts a little bounce in my step. When I run across those they are certainly going to be mine!! Thanks for the giveaway!!
I am a huge fan of perfumes. I wear them all the time. I just love smells and it also makes you feel good and sexy.
Apart from smelling good what really motivates me to get or try new fragrances is which one would attract my guy more towards me
I’ll be honest, a good deal motivates me to purchase. Never pay full price…!
What really motivates me to buy a new fragrance is the start of something, it makes you feel special to wear a different fragrance depending on what mood your in, its like your shoes can’t just have one.
I love shopping for fragrances anytime, but when the seasons change is when I really start iching for a change.
I’m motivated to buy a new fragrance when I find that everyone else has caught on to my “secret blend”!! I want to smell unique, and not like everyone else. These sound gorgeous!

If I smell a perfume and it hits a chord right down deep inside of me, that’s when I know I’ve found a scent that I love.
the price and sometimes the bottle
Pretty packaging is always nice…
I love to try new perfumes, I may get tired of the one I have or receive a sample and have to buy it
I usually want a new fragrance when life is changing – a new house, a new job, a new year, a new man….
… aside from smelling great, what really motivates you to buy a new fragrance.
The way I feel & the comments I get. When I put on a fragrance and go out … it makes me feel good when people comment how good I smell.

I love to find a new fragrance when I want to mark a new memory…scent is strongly linked to remembrance of people, places, and events so I help make them special by honoring them with fragrance!
The feeling it gives me when I smell it.
Perfume is a wonderful way to mark a change in your life or current attitude. Personally, I haven’t found my signature scent yet, so this is why I love to get and trade perfume samples with my friends and family. Most of the scents I do end up purchasing are fresh/clean, woodsy/green, and/or light florals.
I love having different fragrances on hand to choose from.
I choose a fragrance by my moods…. Every day is different, so I like to find fragrances so suit the many changing facets of my being.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to win this fabulous collection.

I love perfumes always love trying new ones
I am a little fickle when it comes to fragrances. In the winter I love rich, deep spice and floral blends. In the summer I lean towards white florals, fruit based or tropical scents.
What usually motivates me is falling in love with the scent. Unfortunately for my pocketbook that happens a lot. I have a TON of perfumes with matching lotions, powder.
Besides smelling nice, I look for a perfume that inspires certain moods. Happiness, of course, but I also love perfumes that inspire coziness. “Yummy” perfumes are another favorite of mine.
Also, sometimes a pretty bottle gets me to buy a perfume I may be iffy on. Some bottles are too lovely to deny!
One thing that motivates me to try a new fragrance is reviews like this one about the Ineke line of fragrances and other reviews on the BeautyStat web site. It is impossible, of course, for me to try the many products out there, so I rely on the articles and reviews here to guide me.
Taking on a new fragrance in my life is a very big deal. I grew up with a mother that had exceptional taste in choosing fragrances that matched her…blended so seamlessly and became a part of her persona. I learned from her that a fragrance should smell and be distinctive in its tone on every individual woman and man. As a result, I find now that when I look to add a fragrance to my collection, it is because I am experiencing a transition of some kind- whether the passing of a season, a move to a new home, or the addition of some new style to my closet. Fragrance is the most important accessory there is, my mother would say. And I couldn’t agree more!
