Backstage at Tadashi Shoji’s Fall 2009 Collection (my last Fashion Week backstage!), I saw beautiful makeup artistry by MAC Cosmetics’ artist Luc Bouchard, who created a palette of caramels and browns for the eye. Tadashi Shoji came to Luc  and said , “A smoky train station…that’s what I want for the makeup.”

The Tibi Fall 2009 Collection by designer Amy Smilovic was inspired by the Russian folk tale of “The Firebird.” The colors popped on the runway, and the “Electric Eel” eyeshadow by MAC Cosmetics punctuated the models’ faces.

The Saturday showing of VPL by Victoria Bartlett embraced the “dewy, fresh look” trend that seems to be dominant on the runway for Fall 2009. Makeup artist Romy Soleimani for MAC Cosmetics says, “The look is a dewy, fresh look, which is kind of moody at the same time.
